Teaching Via Trial and Error- Life Lessons in Sex Teaching Via Trial and Error- Life Lessons in Sex  Teachers teach. They help us learn and grow. To motivate and guide us. I had my favorite instructors during grade school, high school, and in college. I was in the Boy Scouts, and I had scout leaders who taught community, life, and citizenship skills. I had a music teacher who taught me how to play percussion, though my family would say differently (they felt I was just drumming to beat my frustrations out). But, when it comes to my sexual education I had to learn the hard way- by trial and error. In my culture, there was no formal sex teachers. I took sex education classes but it only talked about dry scientific facts of coitus and the function of sexual intercourse- reproduction. Boring…yawn. No real how to guide or instruction on having fun sex. Here is what I learned from my trial and error, mostly error in the beginning. I will break it down in the following paragraphs by talking about: How I liked it (what makes me feel good) Tell people what you want and how you like, Sex is awkward, Sex is sticky, Be careful with alcohol before sex, Be safe, and Learn from what you did right and what you did wrong. I remember waking up one day in bed with an erection. Here was I a pre-pubescent male the day before and the next day I was in puberty. I did not know what this erection was. I touched it. I stroked it. It felt good. I continue to stroke and it felt better. I kept stroking and low and behold…I orgasmed. Eww…gross. Ejaculate is creamy white and sticky, but to the neophyte it was messy. I learned that I liked how this made me feel. I continued to pull on my little pug! I liked sex. I took sex education in school and I learned this act was called masturbation. My beginning of sex! I still masturbate and have sex today and I still like how it makes me feel. Sex makes me feel really good. One day, I discovered my dad’s porno magazine- Cheri and Penthouse. It was my first time to see scantily dressed women- with lots of naked and in very provocative photos. My cock got hard. I stroke and I cum immediately. It was the beginning of me masturbate while looking at sexy women. I showed my sister those magazines. And together we learned about the female and male bodies- she showed me hers and I showed her mine. No we did not have intercourse, we just touched each other and we explored. She told how she liked it and I told her how I liked it. Normal show and tell kind of stuff. Later on, I had several girls I hung out with in the neighborhood and we became good friends. We decided to play spin the bottle one day. This game led the girls to want to look at my penis. I showed them mine and they showed me theirs. I learned to tell people what you want and how you like it. Most people want to know and they seemed to want to help! Sex with others is awkward. I did the normal experimentation. I played baseball with the girls…. Walking to first base, trying for second base, then to third, and then going for home. This is an American euphemism for kissing (first base), touching the breast (second base), exploring her labia and vagina with your fingers (third base), and intercourse (home run). Most girl liked to kiss and they also liked you fondle their breasts. But, young women’s vagina are sacred. I lived in heavily religious community and the females felt the full force of the church. The church taught that sex is bad and if a female likes sex she is “loose” woman and she would burn in hell. I am glad I found some girls who liked it and who were not brought in strict religious environment. But, it was still awkward. Both of us trying to learn to navigate this activity without any guide books or help. I am glad I had good sense of humor. Evan as an adult, sex is still awkward for the first time together. I guess it will always be so. But, the silver lining is after the first time, it gets easier! Sexy is a sticky mess. All those body fluids. Males ejaculate. It has sperm and other fluids to help feed it, protect it, and lubricate. Ladies also have body fluids to help lubricate and protect her vagina. All these fluids are sticky and viscous. If you are doing it right, then both of you should sweat. Saliva is also involved with kissing and oral sex. Some of use man made lubricants and they are sticky and viscous too. After the first time, it gets easier and it can be even fun. It’s good to keep a good sense of humor and have plenty of wet wipes handy! In college, I learned the hard way that alcohol and sex is not a good mix. I recall, as Freshman in college, that drinking too much caused me to wake up many mornings with an unknown female in my bed. I remember meeting the lady at a fraternity party and we hit it off. Then I vaguely remember going back to my room and laying in my bed- kissing and getting naked. I recall a couple of times when the lady and I could not remember each other’s name. Talk about awkward. Alcohol lowers inhibition and you make bad choices. Safe sex is a must. I learned this in sex education way back when grade school. But, when alcohol is involved then you make bad choices. I had sex without condoms. I am so lucky I did not get any sexually transmitted infections or unwanted pregnancies during my early college years. I smartened up. In college, I taught sex education to college students as a resident advisor as Sophomore and Junior. I am so glad I did. I stopped the risky behavior of drinking too much and having sex without condoms. This was smart lesson to learn. As I progressed through my sexual life as a young adult to a mature adult, I learned this last valuable lesson- People like what they like and the key to good sex is ask. Yes, just ask them what they like, how they like it, and where they like it. Once you do what they like, how they like it, and where and when the like it, then remember it. Be respectful. Be open. Be courteous. Do not judge. Lastly, always negotiate. Learn what you did right and what you did wrong! I wish there was guidebook or lesson plan on sex. It would have made my life less awkward and stressful. I would not have doubted myself. I would not have belittled my masculinity or manhood. But, in life the best learning I received was through trial and error. This taught me to overcome failure and revel in my achievements. Life is messy and hard, but it is also fun and exciting. Alcohol does lower inhibitions which can lead to great sex, but too much alcohol can lead to no sex!

Guess we all have to begin somewhere VF?! A virgin - can be very naive, perhaps she may even be a bit shy in the beginning but with the right partner to help her, she'll soon discover the joys and pleasures to be had! If they were both virgins, then guess they would def learn it all through "trial an error" together?!
