What I forgot...

Well.. today was very pleasant..in spite of everything.

My sister's .. my niece.. had wrote me an email saying I needed to go to see my brother in law and pick out what china things I wanted from their china cabinet..
So that's where I was today. He had decided that the dishes were originally given to my own parents.. He was wrong about that.. but I liked the dishes so I took them anyways.. It involved a lot of wrapping and packing dishes..

I had decided that I didnt really want to wear my sister's clothes...so I didnt take any of those.. It was just making me feel weird, to think about wearing them.

I'm not opposed to taking some of my sister's stuff.. but it was so soon after her memorial that I didn't feel right about it.. and when I looked up.. I noticed I was right beside her picture and her urn..
I think that's what made me feel the most creepy..Not only was I taking her stuff and packing it for myself.. but her urn was right by my head.. I felt like she was watching everything...

anyways.. My brother in law and I had a nice visit...and I'm glad I went over there.. He told me family stories that I had not heard before.. amazingly enough.

The funny part was that he had bought tissue paper from a dollar store and it was covered in big sparkly bits...which fell off when I wrapped dishes.. I was covered in sparkles by the time I was done.. and so was the floor...
I had to laugh about that.. My sister would have loved it...

So that was my day.. It kinda shook me up enough that I didn't get much else done today...

Hope you don't have to go through all this..
Gentle hugs
Star

Looking forward to a good year ahead!!

Hi:

Grief is hard. I lost my step daughter a couple of years ago about this time and both my parents. There is no right or wrong thing to do. After all this time I feel people should do what makes them feel good or at least better. Your sister will smile on you no matter what you do.

I have and the only thing I can add is that having her clothes is taking care of something she probably enjoyed having and as time moves on there might be a day you feel like celebrating her by wearing one of sweaters or blouses

Using more than all the road!

It is still pretty new for you, but it does get easier as time passes. Those things of your sisters will help keep her in your heart. My dad died 21 years ago and we still have about everything of his still around. I just got the last tractor he bought out of my shop for winter repairs. And we put a engine out of my old lime truck in the last new pickup that my dad bought new, kind of hot rodded it up and my Mother uses it too haul fuel and bring lunch out to the field when we are working. It keeps him near to us even after 21 years.

Anything worth doing is worth doing right

It was like that with my Mom & Dad only they were still alive, about receiving things that were theirs.
For what ever reason, being with family, you always seen to hear something you never heard before.
I believe your sister was watching over you.....and the sparkles......as angel dust!

She was a lot shorter than me so I probably wouldn't wear them anyways...

He is quite a bit older than me and a great guy.
He told of how my sister and he went out on their first date.
