All together now

When I was younger I worked as a delivery driver in San Francisco, or as I like to call it San Franswishco, but anyhow. One of my delivery stops was a liquor store in the Marina/Cow Hollow district. For those of you living in the northwest liquor stores in California are a whole different experience from up here. In California the state doesn't run liquor distribution so the stores are free to sell any other product they want, from candy bars and magazines to sandwiches and novelties. I grew up as a in a liquor store, or at least that is where I went to play video games. You remember video games don't you? They still have those don't they?Well this liquor store in San Francisco was one of my favorites cause they made the killer chicky sal sandwiches which I am to die for. I would always take my sandwich right around the corner to the Palace of Fine Arts, or over to the Marina Green for a view of the ships coming into the bay. The street on which it lay (chestnut)was a major shopping area with many boutiques, shops, theaters, and restaurants. Now I resisted the temptation to crack a joke about the street name so that you could have something funny to put in the comments section. The name of the liquor store was United Liquors, now me and my perverted mind could not help but think to myself, all right lads all together now, and lick.
While I am on the subject of all together now there is going to be a meeting at City Hall to discuss whether the city's new ombudsman should have the authority to open independent investigations. If you have read my blog titled For Pete Sake, or Why Spokane sucks so much part IX, or THE 911 GANG you would already know that the answer is yes. Since I wrote those posts the Feds have had to step in and take over the investigation into Otto's death, seems the police were concealing evidence. The meeting is at 5PM and I want to encourage you to be there if you can, it is time to make this city a better place.
Incidently Shonto Pete's attorney is Bevan Maxey who is no doubt the of city icon the late Carl Maxy who I covered in Taking it to the Max. I really appreciate the work that the Maxey law firm does for this city. On the other side of the equation is Police officer Karl Thompson's attorney Jeff (holier then thou) Holy. Karl Thomson is the one behind the death of Otto Zehm that I covered in Why Spokane sucks so much part IX. Jeff Holy is a former police officer, who now defends bad cops and want to be a County Commissioner. I think Jeff needs to build up a record of doing things for the people before he asks us to do something like vote for him. Jeff may be an ok guy, he just doesn't have any kind of record to run on, so I want to encourage you to give his campaign the big no vote.
These incidents of drunken police officers shooting up the town and taser happy quick draws are still unresolved even though they happened years ago. The city Ombudsman needs the power to subpoena witnesses and investigate these crimes before the official cover-up begins. I was watching the show cops while they filmed here in Spokane and during a routine stop some guy is told to open his hand, 2 seconds later he is lit up with 50,000 volts by officer quick draw McTaser only to find that it was just a piece of paper. It is time for Spokane to have a professional police force instead of these comboys we have now, they remind me of the Jocks in high school who used to pick on smaller for the fun of it. Think about being down at City Hall this Monday at 5:00PM. Thank You
