I Work Hard, I Play Harder

Got that Gretchen Wilson song stuck in my head. I've finally started to feel a little better. Guess my nose and lungs are adapting to breathing yellow air. News reports say that this is the worst pollen outbreak in the area in over 10 years and of course it's the year I move back with no RX meds. I still sound froggy, sneezing my head off and coughing a bit but don't feel like I'm dying anymore.

I made some noticable progress on and in the house this weekend. Got all but a couple of the blinds up and working. Hung up most of my artwork. Put away most of our winter clothes. Tested out the stove top and oven. I didn't even burn anything, in the big oven...lol...I've burned a poptart and an english muffin in the new toaster oven. That little sucker gets hot!

Good news from Lil Bits school. I don't have to pay for breakfast or lunch. All at the school eat free. I sent in a check for her lunch account and the teacher sent it back today saying she didn't have to pay for lunch. Of course they have all kinds of other things they want them to pay for, a $1 on Fridays to wear jeans, $ for icecream on Fridays. Then this week they are having a "crazy week", each day they can pay $1 to wear something strange, a hat, sunglasses, tacky day, etc. She's adjusting to the uniform wearing and changing when she gets home. She's still complaining about not having friends in neighborhood but that will come with time.

Buster the youngest male dane, is still escaping under the gate. He's so damn skinny when he gets tired of waiting for you to let him in he flattens himself out and slides under with only a few inches of clearance. I'm piling up rocks to block him and am going to have to have him fixed soon. He also has a nasty habit of running off to chase cats, squirrels and females dogs in heat. So as soon I have the money he will loose the desire to chase the females anyway.

My sister and the brood all came back from my mom's on spring break sicker than dogs eating sewer rats. Good thing we didn't go I guess. It's been nice being back in town. Lots of people who knew my grandparents and my mom's family have stopped by to welcome me back. Even a few of my old friends from elementary and middle school. It's been nice to see old friends.

The insurance company finally wrote the check to pay off my mortgage and will be cutting me one final check to pay for all the trees, shrubs and flowers destroyed from the fire and demolition. The mortgage is now paid and after threatening to get an attorney I'll be getting a small amount back from the mortgage company. My change of address is in and my dr's, lawyers and WC ins co have all been notified of my move. I should be getting my mileage reimbursement from the WC ins soon. Basically, if I can make it for another 3-4 weeks I'll be able to get ahead again.

My name and number are in the system to take substitute teaching jobs but with the economy the way it is teachers are just not able to take off as much. So I'll be looking for some other PT jobs around to fill in plus the school year is almost over.

I have 4th row tickets to see My Morning Jacket this coming Tuesday night at the AL Theatre in B-ham. I won them months ago before my favorite radio station went belly up. Also have tickets to see Need 2 Breathe at Sloss Furnace on the 24th in Bham. Without some major money influx I'm not going to be able to go, which really sucks. I've been trying to sell them on Ebay but no luck so far. Of course these things sell like hot cakes when you want to buy them but selling, not so much. Hopefully, that will change as we get close to the date.

I rewarded myself for all my hard work this weekend by going riding Sunday. I rode the 10yr old TWH stallion and my dad rode the 5 yr old colt that he's training to ride. I thoroughly enjoyed my ride on Shadow, my dad's ride was not quite as pleasant but it was a good training for Copper Tot. The weather was gorgeous and Shadow was so happy to be riding. We attached the buddy saddle that Lil Bit is going to start riding behind me and it seemed to work well. I've got to go do some major grooming of my mares this week. They are all shedding out like crazy. A friend of the family stopped by to chat and catch up on old times and then Lil Bit was home to start our week. All my studly riding has left me sore but I've also lost a few pounds so obviously I need to be doing a lot more riding!

Anyway, I hope that your week keeps getting better and better too.Take care of each other and love each other well.
Kisses,
LeeAnn
