50 Shades - I finally watched the movie

Sunday afternoon I had a stay-at-home long-distance Movie Date... and we chose to watch 50 Shades. Call it morbid curiosity.

I read the books (2 out of 3 - I want to read the 3rd but refuse to spend a single penny. I'm hoping their characters redeem themselves a little bit), and after hearing both sides of the controversy... my main issue is how stupid the author made Anastasia. I'd have to read the books again to give a more in depth view, but what totally lost me is when she tripped and fell while walking in the door to Christian's office.

How horrifying that this is the one movie that stuck true to book LOL. They COULD have improved it. Somewhere, anywhere.

My date was busy analyzing the movie and characters. Me? Other than a few horrified moments (like her tripping) and shock (did he sniff her panties in the book? I don't remember. And while I know guys do that sometimes - it was NOT something I ever expected to see on screen!) ... my mind was only 3/4 processing the movie at best. I found Anastasia to be a very flat character. No ups or downs of emotions or tone of voice, overall. Monotonous.

Sad to admit but the movie did excite me a bit. Mostly there was just enough sensuality in certain scenes to get my mind running (thus my "only 3/4 at best" attention span) and the music was conducive to sensual love making too, despite whatever the characters were doing at the time. And the ice play looked ... fun. On the other hand I surely would scream first.

Was it just me, or did Anastasia start writhing in ecstasy long before Christian ever touched her in every scene? I swear there was one scene where she was thrashing and writhing around and then it switched to him "Hey there, I'm just taking my shirt off a few feet away".

The funniest scene ever: The conference table when he looks across at her after a serious discussion and states "I want to fuck you into next week".

My response?

"I want to fuck you into next week" <-- amateurs!!! Next week? PUH-LEEZ. If you're gonna do it, do it right! Next month at the absolute earliest. (And no cheating by starting on Sat. the 31st at 11:55pm LO

I haven't seen the movie and don't think I will. I read the books and if I can find my copy of the 3rd, I'll send it to you.

I think the author should have stopped after the first book and maybe not made a movie, but that's just me.

Do you have any Primal Urges ... I do, please CUMHANDLEME and explore some of my naughty and nice Primal ... Urges with me !!!

I had no plan to read the books either but with the divide, half my friends saying how bad it was, and the other half how wonderful and amazing "it changed my life and opened my eyes to the possibilities!" etc... I finally gave in. I've offered to send my cousin a much better BDSM book(it was actually only two friends that were feeding me opinions) but I can't find it. Bonus: my book has string theory and quantum physics in it.

Never go from book too movie....It just never seems to work, does it I ruined many a Steven King movie, by reading the book first, and the book vs the movie: 1984...forggetiaboutit! Same for the Outsider's!

Normally I fully agree with you. Though I think the movie, in this case, stayed very true to book. Which is very unfortunate. Just think what creative rewriting could have done lol.

Perhaps, you missed the The Weeknd's 'Earned it' and Beyoncé's 'Crazy in Love'...

those two songs were supposed to be in the soundtrack...

I've not seen the movie or read the books...

thanks for posting!!!

Oh! I never thought of asking the people that were all gung-ho about going to it when it came out. I think I'd rate it "neutral". Not terrible but not memorable either.

I have to admit that I have not seen the movie because I didn't want it to tarnish my memory of the books, which I actually liked. I don't have any intention of seeing the movie either. When it comes on HBO or Netflix and it doesn't cost me anything, but time, I might watch it.

Read the first book, saw the first thirty minutes of the movie and turned it off. It felt so...overdone and underacted. I'm a big ole movie buff, this one couldn't even keep my attention.

Maybe it's good that I was only partially paying attention then LOL.

underacted: YES. Despite how horrible the book was they COULD have made the movie something better, in so many ways.

Overall I'm just neutral about it.

One of the most irritating parts of the books to me was how she spoke. I was happy to see in the movie that this was corrected. Was it world-class cinema? Of course not. But I thought the movie was way better than the book. And I'll admit that I find him very sexy - in a standoffish way.

That all being said, I still have a fundamental issue with certain parts - the idea that bdsm is only a function of a abused childhood first and foremost.

I'm also irritated at the ending...she agreed and then punished him for doing what she agreed to. Part of why that irritates me so much is because I see lots of women do that - agree, not speak up when it's not going the way they envisioned and then be all butt hurt and blame the guy.

Totally agree that they did a great job on the music...so I wouldn't give it two thumbs up but it was still better than I expected.

Always tell the truth
Use kind words
Keep your promises
Giggle and laugh
Be positive
Love one another
Always be grateful
Forgiveness is mandatory
Try new things
Say please and thank you
Say your prayers

In porn videos I've seen women sniff their own panties, or panty hose. Big turn-on for me.

I know it's a big thing for lots of people. They have vending machines in Japan and I corresponded briefly (hah!... no pun intended) with a woman who brought in a few thousand per month selling them here in US.

I've been so turned on that I started writhing in ecstasy before being touched. Sometimes, I have even come before being touched. So, it can happen, even though it's rare.

I haven't and won't read the books.

Age cannot wither her, nor custom stale
Her infinite variety. Other women cloy
The appetites they feed, but she makes hungry
Where most she satisfies. For vilest things
Become themselves in her, that the holy priests
Bless her when she is riggish. ~~ from Antony & Cleopatra

Thanks for sharing I guess light writhing due to excitement I've experienced. But not to the level you have. It seemed unrealistic.

Interesting take on book and movie. When I run out of stuff to watch, I may rent it.

Cum to my blog and respond. Have a great kissing fun time.
