A dumb post about dumb TV (do not read)
A dumb post about dumb TV (do not read) I talk about the TV a lot because I am lame . I've talked about how I've fallen out of love with TV . I've talked about how Lost was awesome and then sucked . I've talked about how people are dumb for hating lost so much because it was awesome and then sucked I've talked about how Breaking Bad was all killer no filler . I've talked about how people are dumb for loving Breaking Bad so much because it was all killer no killer . And lately I've talked about how Walking Dead is falling apart . No on wants to "hear" it anymore I'm sure . But when has that ever stopped me ? Eight times . In its fourth season Lost turned into a show about people walking back and forth across an island just missing each other and occasionally reuniting for a little while. Eventually it took time travel to keep the castaways apart , and it felt a lot like stalling . The Walking Dead is in full “Lost” mode . Its biggest goal seems to be to keep walking. It has also become a show about a band of survivors getting separated , thrown back together , kicked out of their home , finding a new one . The Governor seemed like he’s changed , but hasn’t changed . Rick seemed like he’s changed , but nothing changes . It seems obvious why Walking Dead would this philosophy in its fourth season - with its third it became the top-rated scripted show on TV . It makes cash money homey G . There's a spin-off coming up . The network probably cares less about a driving narrative than bringing people back every week . And why wouldn't they ? Consider the difference between NCIS a machine that’s built to last and changes as little as possible and Breaking Bad a masterpiece because of its obsession with change . The two shows represent two models of telling stories ; the old unambitious one that strives for consistency and a new one that rewards viewers for studying change over time . Lost helped popularize the second model and was good when most committed to it. The new masters of Walking Dead have given in to understandable pressure to turn the show into a machine : It’s well-oiled (like my DICK ! )and often hypnotic to look at (like my DICK ! ) but watching a machine is still watching a machine . Boring is its own kind of broken . Lost lost its way (word play ! ) during the seasons when it had no end in sight . Also the end sucked a big King Kong dick . Walking Dead now seems to suffer that aimlessness as well . The show kept the Governor alive last year only to precisely repeat his previous life - trying to save a doomed little girl , taking over a community , trying to take down the prison . Better to have killed him than made him redundant . At its best the show moves aggressively forward , eschewing repetition and backstory . The old regime in charge pushed for accelerated storytelling and the show was better for it during that run . The show’s writers have done too many things this season that felt convenient for the show’s writers . They still know how to come up with some captivating tricks it will always be good for isolated moments of wonderful horror . But the show could be so much more . At its best like Breaking Bad it’s a show about moral choices . Who would you kill or let die to keep someone else alive ? Why are your people your people and their people “The Others” ? Are your people more valuable than their people ? Why ? Lost (sometimes) asked those kinds of questions . Breaking Bad asked them better than any other show . Lost at least created the illusion of forward motion with its many mysteries . It failed utterly to solve any of them but we didn’t realize until the very end that we’d been had (because we're kind of dumb) . Up until then , especially in the early days , the show was ridiculously fun Any forward motion would be nice . Right now “The Walking Dead” is walking in circles (wordplay ! ) Would I think so much about this stuff if I was getting laid more often ? Probably . Putting first by putting employees first, immediately after prioritizing fiscal responsibilities and leveraging profitability towards exceeding by empowering our employees to put (and themselves) first, in a diverse and respectful environment of only those that come first, first. |

I enjoyed the first few episodes of Homeland until I found out they'd signed contracts for four series. But then I enjoyed the first episode of 24 until I realized it meant a 23 week commitment to a TV show.

I liked Dexter, a likeable serial killer with a hot boss. And who doesn't want to off somebody once in a while? For morality themes, there's the Saw series. Nine had captives figuring out what they had in common to gain their freedom {and that really isn't fair to the non-English speaking person}. Hunger had a theme of would you be willing to be a cannibal. Actual situations of cannibalism {like the Donner party} usually involve people eating people, but not people KILLING people to eat. Crosswords increase your vocabulary. Cross words increase your blood pressure.
