They were handing out pamphlets about how Jesus probably doesn't want you to wail on your . Which is something of a unique stance among organized religion it seems to me . It was definitely not anti-discipline , quite the opposite , but it was about how behavior is shaped by thinking - if you want to to act a different way you have to change they way they think , not take out the old beating sack . As a person who has zero and plans to stay that way it was interesting . Their three keys to discipline were Be loving Be consistent Be reasonable Seems pretty solid to me . Some other things I liked about it ; let your see that you have needs too , be balanced - not over critical but not doling out "empty praise" either , make consequences appropriate . Mostly it just made my realize how happy I am that I don't have . I can do whatever I want all the time , WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !  I thought about naming this post "beating your the way Jesus intended" but there's a strangely high number of seemingly religious types on here and I didn't want to start one of them flame wars . On to the daily work nonsense . Today on a conference call a lady ostensibly some kind of "southern" referred to one of my co-workers as a "Yankee cunt" . It made me think of Yankee candles . What are those about ? Also I wondered was Yankee supposed to be part of the insult or was that just a descriptor ? Such as you could call someone a "sexy cunt" but obviously only the cunt part is an insult . Southerners do seem to mean it as an insult sometimes . Which got me to wondering , does it even matter what words are used or is it just the intent ? If someone called me a "fat nerd" I wouldn't be insulted by the words themselves because that's just the gospel truth , but obviously their intent was to hurt my feelings . So where does that leave us ? I mean if I'm trying to insult someone in a foreign language and I tell them to "Drive my knee to bus stop" should they be pissed if that's what I was trying to do ? Its hard to say . I've said this before but for me cunt is the one "bad" word that still has some power . I feel bad about typing it so much . Which is silly because its just a word . What I'm saying though is that everything else is "mainstream" sadly . Just the other day I was at the funeral for a deacon at my church and during they were dropping f-bombs during the eulogy and no one batted an eye . Fucking fuckers not being fucking offended - what's become of us as a society ? Speaking of mainstream did I already blog about the lady who thinks that gangbangs are mainstream now ? I feel like I did . And finally , there was a study (or so they say , they probably took the money and made it all up) that concluded that people waiting for a cellphone telephone call will often "hear" the phone ringing when its not AKA auditory hallucinations . Which really doesn't surprise me . But what did was that less often , but still a lot , people would feel their phone vibrating when it wasn't - which is pretty freaky . Tactile hallucinations ? That's like beyond the pale folks . I don't seem to stupid for not having a mobile phone now do I ? Yes , I still do . Its hard to write vibrating without writing vibrator .
