That's why I'm easy , easy like Sunday morning (or your mom)

I watched "Hot Girl Wanted" last night , which was about how pornography is bad and this morning I wonder two things .

1A - Why do I watch these things when I know they're depress me and that also I am probably not going to stop watching porn ?

Is that normal behavior ? if you have a behavior that you know is wrong but you know you're going to continue anyway what's the use in making yourself feel shitty about it ? Isn't it a mean enough world already ? Do smokers have pictures of diseased lungs on their walls ? Do drinkers think about the people they're going to mow down in their car some night ? Do Republicans wonder about the lives of the poor people they want ground into industrial slurry ? I don't know .

2B - What is the point of these things ?

Strangely enough it was a porn lady's reaction to this film that perfectly encapsulated my thoughts , and I quote "“The producers act as if they are doing some greater good by exploiting the adult industry to mainstream media . They present no solutions to the problems presented within this documentary , but instead tell the same tired tale of how pornography ruins lives and exploits the very women that made the choice to enter the industry completely of their own volition ."

Then she started spouting pro-porn BS but this first bit here rings true . The chick from Parks and Rec who made this film was talking about it on the TV and the whole time I kept thinking "what is that you want ? what is the solution ?" I think we're all aware of the problem , what are we supposed to do about it ? Stop watching porn I guess , no demand no supply right ? But isn't that akin to "winning" the war on drugs by hoping for the drug users to just stop ? Perhaps it is (that's me agreeing with myself) . I've watched any number of "porn is bad" docs but just like any doc they're great at point out problems and short on offering any kind of solution .

Also apparently pornsplotiation is a word now - which is used to describe people who make hay (and money) but exploiting the negative aspects of pornography . I find this funny on a couple levels .

Anyway the movie itself focuses somewhat on the personal story of one lady rather than on the societal impacts - which made is less effective to me since I am an annoying robotman . The point seemed to be that 18 year olds will make bad decisions and we need to protect them , but to a certain degree I just shrug my shoulders to that notion . If you want to raise the age you need to be to perform in porn that's fine , but people of any age make bad decisions - that doesn't stop you know ?

I just don't know .

One thing that the Parks and Rec lady said that I did think was intriguing is that the only difference between being a porn star and being a is that there's a camera - and yet porn is mainstream and is not by any stretch . If a lady tells you she's a porn star you may or may not be down with that , but it she tells you she's a you're definitely not . But aside from the legal niceties there's a very slender difference there .

What I would like to see in one of these pornsplotation films is something about women who watch porn , which depending on what study you want to believe is somewheres between 15-40 percent of the porn consuming public . How do they feel about it RE women's rights/issues/whatever ? I mean you can convince me that maybe porn is empowering to the women involved , but the societal impacts seem to be pretty clearly not good for women . I think that story would be interesting .

Sometimes I want to just forget about all this stuff and dance

As a porn watcher I would like to believe that most of the women are doing it by choice and capitalizing on their good looks/hot bodies as a way to make money. Wishful thinking I suppose.

I suppose one way of keeping arms length from exploitative porn would be to solely watch channels like Make Love Not Porn, where freaky couples upload their own stuff. Those are not free though, and dare I say it sometimes they're not all that sexy either (mainstream porn has ruined my brain...yes I will admit to being desensitized and a scene of sweet subtle romantic lovemaking doesn't really turn me on most of the time).

I don't know if that's desensitization so much as how media works - realism is lame , if it wasn't there would be no need for said media

Since there are many Hollywood productions that exploit and stereotype women and many that empower them - I would imagine that Pornywwod could be the same way. It would depend on the film.

Meanwhile - I'll boogie with you.

That's an intriguing point - if mainstream movies aren't "sex positive" for the women then expecting porn to be is a fool's quest if ever there was one hey ?
