Copycat sites

I've seen people complain here for ages that our profiles are repeated on other similarfriendfinder sites. Does anyone know if thise practice includes Ashley Madison? I started a profile there though I haven't paid for full access. I'm seeing the same photos and in some cases screen names of women there as I do here. I'm wondering if those are actually sign ups by those women or just profiles being shared between sites.

No it doesn’t include Ashley Madison.
If you look on the main page, usually on the lower left side is a list of all the sites related to FriendFinder-x.
What’s scary is if you Google your profile name and find all the unrelated sites that have condensed versions of your profile. Blog entries and comments you have made in others will also show up.

That's one of the huge problems with these sites, while they claim not to share information, it does happen. Other sites will copy or steal the info and paste it into their sites to build what looks like a huge following, but often they change the locations to different ones. I've had many other sites give me free access without my permission or requesting membership to them and pretty much all the profiles and other members on them are either here or scattered out among the other sites. In my pinion, this only does them all harm and benefits no one, as you don't know where the profiles came from or are located. I've had listings from my own home town of several profiles that could not possibly be from my location or even immediate area. This only hurts everyone involved.

AM is a waste of time. Also, you'll find some members on here also use their same ID name on POF.

There are many different sites that operate under the FriendFinder-x umbrella so it's not a surprise.

Quick Online Research - Owners / operators of this site. - Various Inc. founded 1996. American Based Company with branches internationally

Brands / Trademarks:
FriendFinder-x. FriendFinder-x., FriendFinder-x Network.
Source - Bloomberg -

Ruby Life Inc - Canadian Company founded 2002
Brands: Ashley Madison - cougar Life Established Men

I have no idea about Ashley Madison -and the way they operate. Only that I have heard of them through more traditional media. Their marketing seems to be a lot more sophisticated and targeted towards specific demographics and is more lifestyle aspirational. FriendFinder-x marketing seems to be more targeted towards sexual preference.

This is my interpretation of this network - FriendFinder-x

They use targeted advertising / offers based on the sexual experience that you desire. They imply that you are joining a site that is dedicated to this interest and are seeking partners

They have a low barrier to entry - free rego, minimal personal info - the 'brand' promise seems to live up to expectation in the early stage - lots of offers, members wanting to contact, people looking at your profile etc.

Suddenly your profile appears on sites you haven;t been to which are part of the network and you are bombarded by confusing notifications from dont align with your sexual interest

Upgrade now to see what they are saying - dont miss out etc.

But through volume and the right offer at the right time you join if only out of curiousity. You then kind of find yourself in an all in one type off online forum site.

There are site functionalities apart from connecting with other people for sex.. Blogs, IM, chat rooms, etc wo you explore, but it is not as functional or as user friendly as the one you signed up on..

Its a bit like joining a gym for the first time, having you hand held and told you will achieve great things, encouraged to join and then being left to your own devices in a big room full or stuff you dont know how to use and left to your own devices.

You try, and fail, try something different, reach out for advice from other members - some are nice, some are not. Some are abusive. The admin is nowhere to be seen - they are busy with their glossier, more interactive, more responsive recruiting / sites.

You chat to other members and ask them if they have had any success here - their response is not encouraging. You look to opt out - suddenly stuff starts happening - instantly. Someone has sent you a message, Someone suddenly appears on chat - out of the blue looking for you.

You see through this charade - it is kind of insulting - so you decide to opt out anyway - then you recieve an offer too good to refuse - free time and free upgrade - so you stay.

Because deep down you know you want to - that you have seen there is a community of people who share an interest and want to feel a part of a community and still keep the dream alive.

I just wish that the site admin had more insight into their community and how best to serve and treat them than they did in recruiting and last ditch retention.

Just my 2c

.
