I've seen a lot of posts and Reddit threads about alternates for Kik. For now I'm going with Telegram.

 Yup, their cryptocurrency scheme came under SEC trouble. So they said they are shutting down Kik. But the day was up in the air. So stay tuned. It could be Friday. There is also WhatsApp. But Telegram stock has been surging since the announcement of Kik. LOL

 I don’t like WhatsApp because it’s part of Facebook. It uses your contacts there and whatever is on your phone and you have to give your phone number.
