Keeping Up With The Cougars I wasn't going to post today but I have something floating around in my mind. Actually it is sort of bothering me today. I have been receiving a lot of email from younger men which is just fine. But all these younger men make a point of making reference to me being older than they are by using 2 words specifically that makes me cringe upon reading. Once I read these words my interest is completely lost and it sort of offends me a bit. These 2 words are 'Mature' and 'Cougar.' "I am looking for a mature woman" or "I dont think your a cougar", is what I get constantly and its hard to read past those words. Ok, I know I am not 25 anymore. I know I am a bit older than what a man would consider a hot chick. And I know for the most part these words are not used as an insult, but there is something in me that makes me feel like an old baba when I hear the word mature. Cougar is another story. It brings to mind Carmela Soprano with the big hair and the makeup that is a bit to thick. Spandex pants and leopard print tops....its enough to make me want to hurl!! And I swear to you that photo is my only Carmela Soprano outfit! And at what age is a woman considered a cougar anyway? I may be 39 but I can pass for 25 on a good day...and have...with women yet! Sure I take care of my skin and my body, I keep up with my hair and I dont pile on the makeup, but do I still fit into cougar status? So these are my questions. When is a woman considered a cougar? Do I look like a cougar or mature? Just a point of reference...I have had younger men and they cant keep up with me sexually.....ha! Just a jab! In other news my friend gave me the fitness program P90X because I am getting sick of the gym. Monday I start. I am suppose to be shredded after 90 days...pics to follow if it actually happens. And tonight I start my ballroom dance lessons. Update tomorrow. To begin with, from what I can tell from your pics, you can pass for 25. I think these young men just see your age and these are the thoughts that pass through their heads (yes, both of them). I don't know when cougar or mature starts, but I guess it's in reference to their own ages. I would never consider you "mature" but then I am older than you. And to me, I always pictured a cougar to be an "older" woman who trolls for "younger" men for the purpose of having sex. But I could be wrong. All I know is, you are great looking, seem to be a very intelligent woman, who seems capable of having any man you want. So if these guys start with those words, just press delete. I have known guys like that in the past, and I never liked being in their presence. So cheer up, Bella. Go dancing, burn off some stress with your workout program, and don't worry about what those guys say. Rikki

Maturity and age have no relationship with each other. You aren't a cougar until you have been charged with corrupting a minor. You are one of the hottest chics on the planet! You look gorgeous in or out of anything. Don't worry you don't look like a baba. I would love to see if I could keep up. Forget the labels people use. Just a primitive means of pigeon holing us.

I'd say any girl over 30 qualifies if she's definitely looking for a younger man, though I guess most people apply it to a late-30 something or 40-something lady. From what I've seen of your pictures, you would pass for a much younger girl. If you are going after a much younger man, say 3-5yrs or more, you'd qualify as a cougar. A cougar is the sort of woman who only dates with someone waaaaay younger than she is. She could be 35 and seduces a 20 something....I think rule of thumb is at least a decade or more older than the young man (boy toy)..... I get referred to being a cougar...but I do not desire someone much younger than I...my preference is someone around my age and older. I received an email from a man a couple years younger and he was looking for a cougar...I felt very insulted...I mean I don't look my age of nearing 50 for heaven's sake and the ironic part is he looked to be in his late 50s...calling himself a boy toy....yuck....phew....what a jerk...LOL TASTE LIFE IN ALL IT'S FLAVOUR

A cougar is a woman that intentionally hunts for young men. As for being "mature" its never a bad thing. I mean who really wants to go out with someone that acts childish. "I know I am a bit older than what a man would consider a hot chick." That is totally not true, and I know that is why you're being hit on by younger guys

There are old guys that want the young, ditzy chick, but I love a woman with experience. I always persued women that were older than me. I just liked them better. My wife is actually younger than me, but that's cool. She likes them older too. She went for older guys, older than me. Since she married me, I think they hate me. LOL Come into my realm! i thought a cougar was 55+ and dates guys young enough be be younger than her own kids... so don't worry, you don't qualify to be a cougar  now, as for mature... i'm older than you and i'm far from mature so what does that tell you *roflmao* ...That which does not kill me merely pisses me off!...

Heard something once that the rule for a cougar is being with/looking for/ picking up or what ever phrase you want to use, a man who is younger than 1/2 your age plus 5. Not sure where that came from, but for example, that would mean a 40 year old woman being with under 25 year old men. I think it has always been used to describe when the woman is actively seeking out that younger age group As for you Bella, only words like beautiful need apply..........age has no meaning.

I think the term cougar is most appropriately applied to a woman who aggressively pursues a younger man for purposes of sex. In your case, Bella, I think we will withhold any and all labels! You are free to pursue whomever you want and it would only be one word: Hot!
