well I got to spend several days with some awesome friends. it was much needed. I got to laugh a lot, enjoy other's company. not think at all which was good. we had a lot of fun this weekend.
this is a day to remember all the fallen soldiers. this is a day to give them thanks for the service and sacrifice they gave for us and our country for our freedom.

well it has been almost a month now. things are not really getting any easier. I have decided to not worry about going through things yet. I am just not ready for that.
I have finally spent some days alone and here. I spent the last three days here. I spent my birthday/mothers day alone here. it was quite hard. but I go through it and am trying still to get back into my routine. I need to do that to get back on track with work and everything else. busy season has started and I have so much that needs done. I just wish the rain would stop. we got 7 inches Monday. more yesterday. more today. more tomorrow. all my work is outside too.
hope you are all having fun. I need to...it would be a nice distraction and maybe keep me from thinking for a while.

I want to thank you all for your emails and comment to me.
this past weekend was a much needed get away. I got to see her graduate her second masters degree and we celebrated the two boys birthdays.
yes, it was a wonderful distraction. but it was not just a distraction, it was a wonderful time with the family. I needed that and the get away too.
now I need to get into a routine. we had a perfect routine for us but now I have to adapt a routine to allow me to do my things and also add what she did for us in there. I am going to try to stay as close to the routine we had. it will help I think. I keep her in the back of my mind as I do things and what she would say or do.
so life goes on, I go on.

this has been a hard week for me here alone. alone for the first time in 23 years.
I am dealing with it. it is far from easy. I just keep trying to stay in my(our) routine as far as time to do things and what not. I just have to add in time for all the things she used to do for us.
I spent a few evenings here alone this week. I just keep plodding along. it is especially hard here, my closest neighbor is 2 1/2 miles away so it is not like I can see other people around or anything.
I am off to the Chicago area this weekend though for two of the grandson's birthdays. that will be a good distraction and always good to see them.

well all the family left yesterday. they carried me through this. I could not have done this without them.
but, it is now down to reality and alone. yesterday my sisters left. they were the last ones here. then I had to face being here alone for the first time. I don't think it has hit me yet. I am spending the day doing "Sandi stuff" like cleaning and laundry and all the small things she did every day. you do not realize everything your partner does for you to make your life comfortable, all the things you do to make their life comfortable and interesting.
I now have the opportunity to see all of this. it is amazing all the things you do not even think about. do not take your partner for granted. you never know when you will not have them. do all you can to make them have, to give them adventures, to keep their life interesting and fun.

I will be taking a break from all this for at least a short while. I am going to try to keep up with the sea of yellow. I will not be forgetting any of you, I just need some time.
I lost my wife Saturday. it was very sudden and unexpected. a brain aneurysm burst and took her immediately.
it will take time to heal.

well, I went and bought new leathers for riding. got a really nice jacket and chaps.
it is supposed to be really nice here today, in the 60's, maybe even 70. I am going to spend the day riding today. first long ride of the year.

what a week is has been. I worked all week 14 hours a day up through Thursday night when I had to drive home. I left Stillwater MN at 10:30 and got home at 1:30 am. I slept for 4 hours and then I had to get up and clean camp. we had a big group here for the weekend. so I got that done right when they got here. then I had to cook all weekend for them.
now I have to go start putting metal roofs on. it would be nice to have a couple days break. I was hoping the rain would continue into the day today so I would have to take a break.

well I am off to the twin cities (Minneapolis/St. Paul) to work for several days. I guess I do better work than what can be found down there. a customer from up here I have done a lot of work on their very old lake cabin. they are having me come down to do a bunch of work on their home.
I was hoping to find someone to have some fun down there. I have contacted about 10 people over the last month. I have been hoping to converse with them and then maybe have some fun while down there. no luck I guess...

well I guess my age and lots of loud music and machinery has caught up with me. I am going in today to get my hearing aides . I attribute most of it to loud music as anyone that knows me can attest. I love my music and I love it loud. so now I am paying for it. I can still hear well as long as there is no other noise around. but even the background music on tv stops me from hearing the voices, and the ringing in my ears constantly. the audiologist says that is my brain trying to fill in the sounds I cannot hear any more, the higher pitches. it will be good to hear conversations again...

I am still waiting for spring to come. I thought it was here in February. I had the motorcycle out in February. then earlier this month I thought maple sap time was here. so I got out and tapped the trees. I got one batch an boiled it down to syrup and after that it froze and I haven't gotten enough sap to boil yet. I am getting low on maple syrup and I need to replenish my supplies for the coming year. I have not used store bought syrup in many years. yuck...I see it used in the chow hall here at camp. it comes out like cold molasses, thick and yuck. I can not imagine how bad it is for you.

wow, its still winter up here. I was out cutting firewood in the deep snow. almost got the 4x4 tractor stuck. its supposed to be spring. I am glad I am not on the east coast, you guys really got hit. we just got lake affect snow, you can blow it off the cars literally.
busy season has already started. I have work lined up through late july or august. that is good but I do like to have some time to play.
