alas, the last long weekend of the summer. i hate seeing it come and go. up this far north it means cooler temps and the coming soon of winter. i love being able to run around naked outside all the time. i miss it so bad in the winter. after this weekend i take advantage of every day i can run around naked. but i am so busy this fall that i hope i will get a day or two to have some fun.

i have a job today that i hate to do. i have to pour concrete. at least it is not a big slab or anything. it is just some footings under a cabin i lifted up. it is getting pumped in by a pump truck which i have never done before. so this will be a new challenge. i love a challenge but i hate concrete work...so it is kind of a wash.

well i am off again today to river falls this time. i go help a friend put on a harvest fest. i run the old time saw mill for him and fix everything else.
i love to go down there. i have so many friends down there because i have been going so many years now. we do a truck pull on friday night and a tractor pull on saturday night. i love the tractor pull. all that horsepower...ah ah ah uh ah(tim allen). i unhook the tractors when they stop. i love it right there, the best vantage point to watch from, a few feet from it all.

finally home from my road trip. had a wonderful time and saw an incredible amount of beauty. i went across the rockies, up through wyoming, saw mount rushmore, the black hills, the badlands and other sites in north dakota and northern minnesota.
i just wish i would have had an itinerary so i could have met some of you wonderful people on here. but i just traveled at will and saw and did what i wanted to.
but i am back home now and relaxed and ready for a long fall of long, hard work.
feeling like i need this

well i am off tomorrow morning on a long road trip. i am taking my grandson home to denver. then i am taking a few days travelling up through wyoming, south dakota to custer state park, badlands, mount rushmore, the black hills. then north to north dakota up by the international border. then across hwy. 2 through minnesota and the home.
i love road trips. i like taking the back roads going through all the little towns seeing what they offer. if i see something interesting, i stop and experience it. there is so much life to experience in all the little towns in the middle of no where. i know, i live there.

this is the last week i get to spend here with my grandson. i am taking him home next weekend. it has been a wonderful summer with him. we have done a lot of fishing. he got to work with me and make some money. i am going to try to spend as much time as i can with him this week. we want to go out into lake superior fishing again. i am sure we will.
i will miss him...

motorcycle

took my grandson on his first ever motorcycle ride. it was such a beautiful day for it. we went about 180 miles. a lot of it along the lake superior shoreline. we were up by the apostle islands. had lunch at a fabulous rooftop cafe overlooking the bayfield harbor and the islands.
what a good day it was

i spent a long weekend out in the boat in lake superior and the pike lake chain fishing all weekend with the grandson. it was beautiful weather finally this summer, no wind, just a nice breeze both days. caught a lot of fish and spent a lot of quality time together.

it has been such a busy summer for me this year. it is good because i am making good money but i have no time for myself. and one of my grandsons is here for the whole summer so i have no free time to myself. i love the time with my grandson but i really just need a little me time right now. i need to meet someone and have some fun with them. summer is always such a busy time.

i finally have power again after two days of very hot weather with no fan to blow on me. uggg.
i guess we had straight line winds knock out power here in the northland. there were a lot of trees down. i mean long swaths of 100 foot wide, all trees down type winds. one of my friends had this through his cabin property. luckily nothing damaged but trees.

what a beautiful weekend here in the northwoods. i spent the day yesterday out on the water either pulling skiers or skiing. i love water skiing. i show up all the younger ones which is also fun to do. i have been teaching them all how to ski for the last few years. they are getting good now.
i am spending the 4th out on the big lake like this....
