Word of the day
Word of the day Today's word is GLOGG. Glogg [GLUG] noun: a hot spiced wine and liquor punch served in Scandinavian countries as a Christmas drink Example: When Renee spent a year in Norway her host family had a traditional drink they would serve during the Christmas holiday called glogg, it was warm and tasted like wine and spices and she liked it. Did you know? Glogg is a holiday favorite in many Scandinavian cultures, where it is commonly served on St. Lucia's Day (December 13) and all around Christmas time. Not surprisingly, the word "glogg" itself (sometimes written as "glögg") is of Scandinavian origin; it comes from Swedish and derives from the verb "glödga," meaning "to burn" or "to mull." But although "glogg" may look like it should rhyme with that other notable holiday beverage—"eggnog"—the two aren't quite a perfect match. The "o" in "glogg" is pronounced like either the "u" in "nut," the "oo" in "foot," or the more foreign-sounding "œ" in "bœuf," the French word for "beef." "Nog," on the other hand, is generally pronounced with the "o" as in "mop"—and thus it rhymes with "grog." So the last couple days have been a bit hard but yet not. A little hard to explain unless you've been in a long distance relationship. Most of the time I'm fine and live my life and know he's in it but has his own. Then there are the times which are few but they do happen that I just miss him and want him with me so much. I try to just let it go and move past it but there are nights that I can't and well yeah... So we had a nice shake down last night! An earthquake not to far from where I live. It was super shallow so it rocked and rolled pretty good here. I must admit I totally had a freak out lol. I was just drifting off to sleep when it hit and it took me a minute to fully grasp what had just happened once I even realized it was an earthquake lol. The slept through it and didn't even wake up until I came back into my room. I stayed up for about an hour just because I was a bit wound up and couldn't sleep but to make sure the tsunami warnings were done. We would never got an actual wave here where I live but we could get an influx of water as well as higher tides and strong currents. I find it interesting that some people living just 2 or 3 miles away didn't feel a thing and my house was shaking pretty good. Anyway I keep forgetting to post on the weekends cuz I'm usually busy watching movies or I'm doing stuff away from my computer and just space it but tonight I did it even though it was after midnight. Hope y'all had a great Saturday |
