Gimme Gimme Gimme
Gimme Gimme Gimme This is for the doorbell ringers, email senders, poster hangers, groups posters and anyone else who fits. When did people become so lazy and turn into such a gimme society. Give to this cause, donate to this team, give to the class project, blah blah blah. What happened to the day that parents, teachers, coaches and mentors taught those to have work ethic and to be moralistic. Knocking on doors with palm up to "give" to this or that verses, "We are EARNING money for our sport event or class project, can I work around your house to EARN some money?" I had a Grandfather knock on my door last weekend taking "donations" for the local catholic school fundraiser. I asked him where the Student was and his answer was "he was out late last night". Its sunday morning at noon. What are these parents teaching their , worse yet why is a parent/grandparent knocking on doors begging? I certainly dont understand this practice. |

My kids had to perfect their "sales pitch spcheel" before do a door-to-door or I did not let them sell. I never took a book to work to sell for them. There's no effort anymore. Kids will knock and I will coach - You are whom? You are selling why? .......... Most will not play along.. they are like - "c'mon lady - just look at the book". Nope too lazy - just like you..bye bye.

Sewn..I had this lil kid about 6 or so come knockin last fall. A boyscout. I am not a big fan of the boyscouts after something I saw at work, but I had to give in. The lil kid came dressed in full uniform, socks, hat, badges, sash. Selling popcorn, which I am allergic to. I started to grab the flier and he pulled it back and hand read each and every item to me and what he thought was good and such. He was the cutest darn thing and I ended up buying the biggest batch of popcorn he had. After, I went out to his dads car in the drive and thanked him for teaching his child manners and a good work ethic. Its nice to see people like you and him are still out there.
