A friend of mine got date a few weeks ago.

No one ever thinks it will happen to them, it's just a thing you hear about right? Something that happens to other people who aren't careful. This woman is damn smart, she was in a venue she trusted surrounded by friends enjoying a damn good BBW party, bouncers on the door and a good time being had by all, what could be more safe than that?

She was getting a helluva lot of attention from a young fit guy who seemed so nice, willing to listen to her for hours and hang on her every word, enough to make you feel 20 years younger.
He sweet talked her into going for a walk with him where they could chat without the noise or me and other friends poking our heads around the corner to check out the state of play. I know, alarm bells should have been ringing but i guess she thought it was her birthday.

They go to a bar along the river and she sits down while he gets the drinks. Next thing she knows she's waking up in a strange hotel room at 4am, she's covered in bites, bruises and god knows what else with no memory of where she is, how she got there or how she got into that state.
One moment in the entire night when she wasn't paying attention, but one moment is enough to slip something into a drink, and that one moment buys her a trip to the clinic for tests because she has no idea if he used a condom, hell she has no idea if he had a bunch of mates waiting in the room to gang bang whatever he brought back, no idea if it was filmed or broadcast on a web cam, no idea what sick shit he might have done or how often he did it.

One moment and your life can be turned upside down.

The moral of this story? Well if you are at a party with friends don't bugger off with a total stranger. Give him your number sure, snog him if that's what you want to do but don't leave that party with him without making damn sure people know where you have gone and will be checking up on you. Get your friends to take pictures of the guy and make sure he knows they are doing it.
Don't ever drink anything that has been out of your hand, if you're going to have a dance then finish your drink first or take it with you, if you leave it on the table then throw it away when you come back, and if someone is going to buy you a drink then go to the bar with him and take that drink out of the barman's hand.

Overkill? Nope, not even close. You cannot be too safe, there are way too many sick weirdos out there and they don't wear signs to help us tell who they are.
