I learned years ago that dieting doesn't work for me, there's a plateau I can't get under no matter what I do and to just accept my gut. When my old doctor saw how little I eat in a day, he tested my thyroid. According to my thyroid levels, I should be eating constantly and underweight. But from all that dieting over years, my metabolism sucks.

It doesn't matter what I eat or don't eat. The ONLY way I lose weight is by walking. However, with the summers here, I wasn't able to do that. So now, I have extra summer weight. So now that it's getting cooler, it's time to get out there and do at least two miles a day. Which really isn't all that far, but the weight melts off when I do that.

My solution to my fat ass is simply not to care. I know i'm about 40 pounds heavier then i should be. But I figure it bothers other people more then it bothers me, so it should be their problem instead of mine.

The way i see it, i'm offering myself as-is. With my good qualities and my bad as a package deal. Take it or leave it.

Yes i realize this attitude probably won't work as well for women as it does for men due to the pressures of society, but keep in mind a lot of us men really aren't as hung up on a woman's weight as much as other aspects of her.

You women are your own worst critics.

I have to agree that women are definitely their own worst critics, but then again so am I. If I could find a way to add some more bone structure to my frame I would jump all over that, but I'm more self conscious over how SMALL I am. I did find a pretty good website by a real doctor that doesn’t focus on weight loss necessarily, but it does give a lot of good insight on diet to help you feel better and hopefully live better. Now he is really against the pharmaceutical companies and, depending on your views on all that, if you can get passed it, there is a wealth of knowledge on there. Like he says though, take it or leave it, ultimately you are responsible for your own health. Anyway if you want search for Dr. Mercola on your favorite engine and see what you think.

I don't think men are under as much pressure to be thin as women are. Everywhere we look we have pictures of skinny celebrities, models, musicians and debutantes in our face 24/7. There are a slew of overweight male actors on TV but very few female actresses that are even mildly overweight. Men may tell women that they're happy with us the way we are, but then they turn around and drool over bikini clad models.

Yes we do like our eye candy. There is no denying that. But us real people also know that the supermodel women of this world usually end up with the mega-rich or mega-pretty men of the world. The advantage you have over what's in the media is you are real flesh and blood, and potentially reachable.
