Getting Pregnant To Young There have been reports in the news about making pacts on getting pregnant. I think all parents should be talking to their on about this subject before it is to late. Then the next thing you be raising your own grandchild. I have to agree on should not start dating until 16. I would grant double dating at first. Then at 18 there at the legal age to do what they want? I know I started to early in dating wished I waited another few years down the line. Maybe it is old fashioned of me but it is better getting pregnant and realize you did a big mistake so early. So what is your take on this subject? What do you think should be done? Just Curious. Hi roxy, this has alwaysbeen a hot botton issue between parents and children.Everything is accesable to kids these days, and more acepted.There is no shame like there was when my parents were growing up.Did you hear that they tried to blame it on the movie juno? the filmmakers are just trying to make a peice of enteratinment. Parents should teach there kids about there bodies.And there are very REAL risks involved. I take issue with placing blame on a generations popular culture.I write scripts, and music.The celeberites are easy to blame first,they have no control over what a persons actions are. Look at the 60's and 70's.My parents generation did drugs, and have sex. So when they become parents they turn into hypocrities. Is there a difference between the hippie generation and others? or is there any comparision? This is a great debate, I always enjoy participating.Whether you or other people disagree.

For me, this is a hot loaded question..... and to give an honest answer one should always look at yourself first... Did one lead by example? How old was one when they had children? Would one want their children to enjoy sex as much as oneself? What would one change in their own sex life in the past? See I think society dictates the rules we live by, and not nature. Not saying either should dominate the other.... maybe there are no hard and fast rules. But just we can now live to a ripe old age of 80... Now suppose the average life expectancy was 30.... See maybe I have some uconventional thoughts here, but as things stand we cannot even explore them as society in modern western culture now dictates so much of our lives that turning a world upsidedown is impossible, so there is no use really thinking... just go with the flow of society.... and before you dismiss me completely.... my mother was 15... so by enforcing rules I and others would not exist... but that's aother story part of which you will find at the blogs of Februus_3rd Mental Cleaner in the post A late memory for mothering Sunday ... I judge not others lest they judge me also!

I am an educator and I have seen too many promising students (female and male) throw their future away due to a pregnancy. It is a shame!!! I only have two boys and they are very young to talk about safe sex or abstinence with them but, we already talk to them about their future, education, and responsibilities in life. I believe that we, as parents, need to take more time to talk and get involved in our children's life. By the way, Kudos to silkypink469. It may seem intrusive but Knowing everything about your child is the best way to help them!!!
