Erotic Writing Workshop Experience I did enjoy my time down in the Old Port last night (though could have done without the 4 hours in the car to and fro or the $16 for parking lol) There were about 13 or 14 of us in attendance which pretty much filled the space we were in. It was hosted in a cute lil adult boutique on the second floor. We did a bunch of writing exercises for 5-6 minutes each where the presenter gave us a topic that we had to incorporate into a story. She would read a sample of some work related to the subject and explain what she liked about the piece. Then we wrote, (topics listed below) and then people who wanted to share their writing or just what they chose. Which was fun to hear other peoples works or why they choose what topic yichose. - For me it was more about concepts then the writing. It did help identify a short coming i have when writing in a traditional story format. So that alone was worth the trip. The presenter gave us a handout full of resources and even got our email and sent us a follow up with additional items we didnt have time to discuss and even more resources. Some key take aways; The inter relationship between the five senses and the 5 Ws (who, what where, when, why) and how that can help tie the story arch togetherdThose help pull the reader into the story. The importance of insight either for the reader and or the character (whats the characters motivation? why should the reader want to know more? what kind of questons/thoughts can the story encourage the reader to think about?) To me this tied in perfectly to the communication concept of Johari's Window (I wont bore you with the details) but it helped me with the point she was trying to make. location can be a key factor in the story and can actually impact the character's motivation the example she used is sex outside - are they ina spot here they may be seen, a place they would be seen, is the thought of being caught scary or exhilarating for the character etc etc etc. She reaffirmed that when you are writing it's you world dont be afriad to be as much of a fantasy as you want or interject as much realism as you want. On author there had a great snipet about a couple over 50 where neither partner wanted to be on top because the lady had body issues 'where bits dangled more they should' and the guy didnt like being on top because it hurt his knees and he had "staying power and cam quicker than he wanted when he was on top". it all tied in nicely with thier piece. Topics - (and what I chose to go with) Food - Popcorn - setting was a couple at the movies and how the constant reaching for the popc orn lead to hands touching. how it would sometimes slip out of her hand and roll down her chest with a kernel or two that get caught in her cleavage. This all leads to some fun in the movie theater. Job - mine was a guy stuck in an endless business presentation and he is reminded of the bill engval skit about how there were never cool jobs at his career fair growing up and how he wouldnt at that moment mind being the guy that gets to shoot frozen turkeys out of a canon at airplane windshields he goes on to think what would be a fun naughty job and he came up with "Booby Inspector" . He spends most of the presentation trying to figure out what a booby inspector would do, and takes a very (tongue in cheek) analystical look at the jobs - who does one measure performance? what sort of hazards are there doe he use is mouth? his hands? is it a visual inspection etc etc - it's supposed to be a humorous piece but you get the point i hope. couple that been together > 12 years - basically its a couple that has just introduced a monthly "date night" into thier lives. (now that the are a lilttle older) on the drive to the fancy restaurant they reminisce about when they were dating, making out in the car etc - long story short they revisit an old haunt and never make thier reservation technology - struggled with this one because i had a few ideas so made some notes and will revisit someday lol Instructions - (we are supposed to have one of the characters instructions to another in some sort of manner - i.e. how to seduce me, what to do when waitting for a dom, etc) - I more made notes but basically the protagonist leaves trails of pictures througout the house for thier partner should do, where etc.) still lil foggy on this one but may have potential. Safe Sex - basically one is fully clothed the other behind the other who is completely naked and they basically manually give them pleasure Celebrity - I actually shared this concept with the group to let me dork/geek flag fly - A man on the subway in the early morning hours sees a woman who is the spitting image of wonder woman but dressed in a crisp white blouse, black skirt nude stockings and black heels with a flair of red on the soles (or red open toed pumps not sure which yet lol) - he spends the next while drifting between how gorgeous he is and all those childhood fantasies he had. It's all supposed to lead to the ending i have in mind. So lots of exersizes and she shared her insight as both a writer and an editor and gave us all tons of resources. It was a lot of fun even if i didnt get home until after midnight (i aint as young as i use-ta-be lol) |

Sounds fabulous Hun an I can't wait to see what you put for writing after this work shop. I hope you had a blast at it and I know you will do well. Now get cracking and put out a story for us!
