My point was not to belittle or 'qualify' an old person's death, as being insignificant. I was highlighting the ambiguity of the information that is being distributed. It's a knee jerk reaction to a new virus. Next year... another virus will show up. And the year after THAT, yet another. Does that imply that we should just pack things up? For the foreseeable future? I'd like to think that there are other solutions than simply closing sporting events down. They haven't explored all of the options. Those leagues closing up (all of them, by the way), are harvesting paranoia and PR chips to placate the masses. im currently watching a europa league match between LASK (linz, austria) and manchester united being played in an empty stadium. sure, the crowd noises are missing, but the game is just as compelling, and the field sounds are just as captivating. again, this is not at all unheard-of in the rest of the world, although usually because of racial or political violence perpetuated by the home clubs fans or the countrys politics. this is the only reason i postulated that this might be a solution here. the difference now is that here some of the PLAYERS are found to be infected, so no, postponement (hopefully NOT cancellation) IS the right way to go "well only get through this if we work together. if we dont, none of us will"

There are over 10,000 deaths from the flu so far, this year in the USA. Not much pub on that, is there? Paranoia is a funny thing. I think a few people too many, watched ; I Am Legend... and... 12 Monkeys... FOLLOWUP - now that im hearing that some of the PLAYERS are infected, that shifts the dynamics COMPLETELY. cancellation now appears the way to go. if even heathen doesnt decry it as "hysterics" as hes done with any other warning up until now, it must be so. I did vote my friend and you know I think everyone should stay away from huge crowds, and it's not fun playing games without people watching. I hope they can get this under control soon..I hope you have a terrific Thursday.. Seduce the mind and see what a wonderful adventure the body will take you on..

Playing in an empty stadium without the cheers of the fans really isn't much of a game atmosphere. Cancelling all games , cancelling events that draw large crowds, is a safe and sane decision to limit the community spread of covid-19. May even reduce the flu cases, as well. Keep in mind the common flu kills 10's of thousands every year. The Players and rational fans understand. Sure, they're disappointed, but they understand. There'll be games next season, to play.
