Armed Robbery...91 dogs...Vegas...Girl Scouts...Rock n Roll?

38 year old Bay Minette, Alabama man was arrested shortly after robbing a check cashing business.
He wore a wig, false beard and was armed with a toy gun.
Surrounded by patrolmen, he emerged from a wooded area behind a grocery store. Still wearing the wig and mask.
He offered no resistance with the toy gun.
The felony carries a prison sentence of 10 years to life.


A former Huntsville, Alabama<b> police officer </font></b>was accused of stealing $60,000 from his department and staging his own abduction.
He fled to Las Vegas, and was apprehended living the high life.
The officer faces 10 years in prison, $250,000 fine and restitution of the $60,000.


The woman who aided him in the deception, he dumped her.
Did not take her with him, did not call her.
She promptly rolled over and told local law enforcement everything. She faces 5 years in prison and a $125,000 fine.
What happens is Vegas does not always stay in Vegas.
Unless you take her with you, to Vegas.


A Foley, Alabama woman was arrested for trying to pass bad checks to a local Girl Scout troop. The two checks totaling $1,300 was for the purchase of 400 boxes of cookies. The types of cookies purchased is being with held pending the ongoing investigation.
The woman was released on $5,000 bail. Bond was paid with a money order.


In a cost cutting move to save two cents per unit, a condom manufacturer in Southeast Alabama is shutting down production.

On this day in 1959. Mobile Police broke up a blockade of irate housewives who had gathered to stop trucks hauling clay through their neighborhood. 50 embattled women and were dispersed by police officers. The twenty trucks continued their barreling through the residential area. Any use of water hoses and dogs was not mentioned.

Authorities in Mobile, Alabama seized 91 dogs from the home of a couple, later charged with animal cruelty.
animal control had received numerous complaints of noise and the smell from the house, but could not contact the couple.


The couple is also charges with theft of services.
Wiring cables to a neighbors electric meter and stealing a water meter from a neighbor to activate a waterline.
The couple offered no resistance and did not understand what the big deal was all about.


On a bright note Ani DiFranco played a fantastic show in Mobile, Alabama. The singer, songwriter, guitarist covered all bases.
The best way to describe her is genuine, opinionated, relentless.
Her acoustic sets were percussive as well as melodic.
Kristy Lee and Jimbo Kurisko opened the evening. Followed by Toshi Reagon. Recovering from my first and worst bout of pneumonia. Only Ani DiFranco could lure me out on that Tuesday night.
