It doesn't really make a difference to me how close they live to us as long as thet are discreet as well. It would depend on the distance....I believe if it's a great distance away from us we should meet some where in the middle

I think that meeting someone that is not in your immediate area is good for a few reasons.

It takes planning to meet up unless you have free time and can easily be spontaneous. Planning helps you be prepared - physically, with appearance, toys..etc, and it allows for anticipation which really gets the juices and mojo going.

Another thought is that the distance should minimize any strange feelings if you mix it up with another couple. There is less of a chance for strange feelings when it is not easily accessible. If you hook up with a couple down the block then it could open up the pandora's box of temptation for either to meet on the sly. Hopefully everyone is capable of adult arrangements and can set up the rules for contact- i.e. what is ok and not ok. You just have to make sure you talk about it and make sure everyone is aware of each others feelings on boundaries before playing.
I am sure there are plenty of other reasons but those just popped in for discussion.
Cheers!
