I'M YOUR DISEASE I'M YOUR DISEASE Allow me to introduce myself. I am the disease of Alcohol and Drug Addiction. I dominate your spirit and I possess your soul. Cunning, baffling and powerful, that's me. I am your disease and I hate your meetings, I hate your higher power, I hate your recovery programs... To all who come in contact with me, I wish you long suffering, death and destruction. I have killed millions and will continue to kill more and I am pleased. People don't take me seriously. They take strokes seriously, heart attacks, even diabetes seriously, fools that they are, they don't know that without my help these things would not be made possible. I love to catch you with the element of surprise. I love pretending I am your friend and lover. I have given you comfort, have I not? Wasn't I there when you were sad, lonely, hurt and depressed? When you wanted to die, didn't you call me? I love to make you cry. Better yet, I love to make you so numb you can neither hurt or vcry. You can't feel anything at all. This is my true glory, I will give you instant gratification and all I ask of you is long term suffering. When things are going right in your life, you invite me in, I have been there for you always. You said that you did not deserve those good things and I was the only one who would agree with you, so I destroyed your life, your self worth. I made you turn on your family, lose your job, possessions and your freedom. Together we were able to destroy all the good things in your life. I am such a hated disease. I am your worst nightmare but you desire my gratification. I do not come uninvited, you seek me out, you choose to have me. So many have chosen me, just look around and there are many more that you cannot see. I am very proud of my flock. I hope you never see the light of reality, I love keeping you in the illusion of darkness. I hate your 12 Step Program. I hate your meetings and your Higher Power. They all weaken me and I can't function in the manner I am accustomed to. Now I must lie here quietly. You don't see me, but I am growing, bigger than ever. When you only exist, I live. When you live, I only exist, but I am here... And until we meet again, if we meet again... I wish you long suffering, death and destruction..........
