To be sentient

To be sentient
sen•tient (ˈsɛn ʃənt)

adj.
1. having the power of perception by the senses; conscious.
2. characterized by sensation and consciousness.

I've always been a fan of Science Fiction. Years ago, way before computers and the digital format, I read almost every book published containing stories of strange worlds and various author's vision of our Earth at distant periods of time, both in the future and way in the past.

As a young , I first came across the word: "sentient" in one of these books, and loved the way this word rolled off my tongue after I learned how to pronounce it.

As a of Irish, German, American Indian heritage, I'm a bit of a mystic. I've had things happen to me that my agnostic intellectual beliefs can't explain. For example I can light a candle and meditate staring at the candle while I'm alone (and things are very quiet), and without fail after I've meditated, long forgotten people will contact me, or I will have surrealistic things happen on the hikes I take on the desert with my old Border Collie early in the morning, and sometimes late at night. Try this for yourselves. There's probably some neuro-physical explanation of why the primitive light from a candle, combined with our mental concentration, stirs some of the quantum mechanical synaptic connections in our brains and crates synchronistic forces in our "hot spots" of existence.

The first year I was on this site, I wrote extensively about some of the more exciting meditation techniques I use, and was surprised by a small group of people on this site who were outraged at me and claimed I was visiting them in the "other world" for sexual purposes. It's an acknowledged fact to anyone who uses meditation techniques and is skilled in the use of some of the forms of concentration, that intense orgasms result without ever touching one's body. Our sexuality first begins in our brains, so it's not a big surprise one can get in touch with extreme erotic visions that first form in the brain and then go out to stimulate the body.

At various times I've been labeled a satyr, and a warlock.. Probably a little of both are true. Basically I'm sort of an amateur scientist with an open mind and a willingness to try most things if they don't involve drugs, alcohol, or forms of sexuality that are against the law or involve feces, blood, pain, or bondage.

I've often written how our human sexuality is a gift from some--perhaps--higher power, and that NOT to use IT is a slap in the face of that SENTIENT power.

Love on, my fellow humans. Sexual repression only creates anger and hatred in this world. There are religious forces and political forces in this world that do everything in their power to repress our sexuality in order to control us. I hope you're not foolish enough to fall for their hypocritical ploys!

love,

A Great post! I too have loved reading Science Fiction from the time I was in 3rd grade. I credit it with giving me a more open mind and making me look at thoughts, people and ideas from at least 2 directions and often more.
I consider myself an Agnostic as Atheist is too Dogmatic. Besides there truly are too many unexplained things that happen in the world.
Always love to read you David.
Interesting how Sentient and Sensuous derive from the same root word.
Thank you very much Justskin for your comment.. I've always realized from reading your posts beginning last summer, that you were far beyond the norm. One of the really neat things about this site is that it helps to separate out those people who we would not have any interest in cultivating, or would be afraid of always offending because of our strong sexual natures.xxxdavid

If you see me in the real world, come say "Hi Justskin."

I always behave. Preferably not well.
