Do Not Use Numerals In Blog Post Titles! Hello, all: Kudos to [blog KtMnDu], who has, through trial and error, been trying to figure out why posts are being deleted. It seems as though the system is currently having problems with titles that have numerals in 'em. Simply put: For the time being, don't use numerals in the titles. Spell 'em out -- and that goes for ordinal numbers (don't type "16th" -- use "Sixteenth" instead) too. Apostrophes may or may not be throwing things off as well... Another valiant warrior, Redrockrascal is also doing his best to root out causes,. Check out this post Misdirected Posts and Customer Service which will detail his dealings with customer service. *Sigh* Can't say WHY this is happening... but it is. So... modify behavior accordingly. Spread the word. And give [blog KtMnDu] some love for his work on this. Oh, and... if you have access to the posts which are seemingly deleted, try using the edit function, change the title if it has a numeral in it, and see whether you can make the post reappear. I was just about to ask if the symposium was going to be delayed until the site staff pulled their collective heads out of their community butts. I need to get the word out that people can't put "16th" in their titles... but yes, I'm going to try to host the symposium as usual. If this workaround works, great. If not... we'll make a decision then. What would you recommend? I wonder whether the apostrophe is also throwing off the program. Is the post yours? If so, try typing "it is" (with apologies to Crosby, Stills, and Nash) and see whether that works... Either way, please check back and let us know. Who knows? Maybe the bug hasn't gotten through to the third one yet... Um... I need to get the word out that people can't put "16th" in their titles... but yes, I'm going to try to host the symposium as usual. If this workaround works, great. There is a lot of frustration and incorrect info being told that posts are "deleted" - they are not deleted they are misdirected and are visible on the users blog page. I say we spread the word about not using numerals or apostrophes and go for it. it's gotten too much pre-publicity already, and folks are already writing their contributions. I'd ask that we pull together as a community on this one: If you see people whose contributions are being deleted, let 'em know why. When I put up the master list, I'll include language about numerals and apostrophes right next to the size 2 suggestion. And now, I'm off for pina coladas. I deserve one. Similarly, any post that has an apostrophe (') or other punctuation marks will cause the site to have hiccups. I hope people will edit their posts accordingly, and we can all get our work back!
