My first trip to India.
My first trip to India. Hello readers, nice to see that the readership is picking up. Would be great if you leave a comment and tell me what your view is of something i wrote or just saying how gr8 my blog is Well i have come back from a short trip to india and it was interesting to see such an old culture and one to which my roots lie. I have always been told that i looked more arab than indian, and was shocked to be told the same by some indians! Maybe i have arab genes somewhere, coming from gujerat where the arab merchants use to come since antiguety it wouldnt b a surprise. I saw an indian of black african descent begging for money in delhi, which made my jaw drop! She looked very much from nigeria or something like that! But there is a community of black african indians who are descended from the black imperial guards of the sultan of delhi. Sadly in todays india they are one of the poorest in the country. On my first day i came across three members of the ijra community. That is the transvestite community! Revered by some they are said to carry out black magic on people who offend them, thankfully they didnt hear me when i shouted "omfg, blokes in dresses" i would have had a doll made of me with pins embedded in it. No doubt in my eyes, mouth and balls. Its amazing how much erotica and sex plays a role in ancient indian history, from the nude statues of female servents of ancient kings and gods to the karma sutra and tantric sex. An amazing culture all round! |
