 This is probably not a healthy way to deal with it, but I just push it out of my head. Also, I almost never let anyone get that intimately involved with me so I don't have to deal with it.

no, not harsh at all. it's your life, you live it whichever way you think is best. you are obviously honest and open about it and that's what matters. to me it seems fair.
