Maybe a glimmer....

So I was out at the lake in the evening trying to catch a sunset. I have been doing that the last couple of weeks as a peaceful end of the day since I have not been wrangling contractors around the house it has been a nice interlude. Usually I just back the truck in and setup the tripod off the end of the tailgate so I have a place to sit and then wait for the right light... I took the picture I am posting with this that evening.

In the old days I had friends in an online community via AOL... I used to have women acquaintances that complained bitterly about not being able to find a decent guy for their lives. I almost always responded with questions about what they were doing to try to put themselves in front of the right kind of guy and the answer was almost always sit at home on AOL and wait. I told them, and believe for myself, that the proper way to manage a life that is not quite what you want is to go live that life as close to the way you want as possible. So go the places you like, do the things you like and while you are there look around to see who else might also be doing that. So going to take in and photograph a sunset is inside that set of rules.

In order to tell the story though I have to get into story mode...

So.. there I was... minding my own business looking out over the lake and set up for the sunset which will be about 45 minutes away... when... a woman walks up to me in the middle of nowhere. She knew enough about photography to know what I was doing and something about the equipment... and showed me some camera phone images she had taken in the same location at different times in the recent past. We had a most pleasant conversation and she hung around perhaps 20 minutes... She was walking away before I introduced myself and she gave me her name.. but I let her get away without finding out a single way to get hold of her to continue the conversation .... (this is where you can imagine the forehead slap).. so to end the story part... I am going back to this spot on evenings where the sunset is a decent possibility and hope to see her again and correct my previous mistake of not collecting enough information to go forward. Tonight looks like a good one with weather coming in... maybe following my own advice was a good thing.

house continues to progress... I am so close to finishing the drywall/mud/tape process in the back..... I have six gallons of paint lined up for application but that can go very fast... I am determined to be living in my master bedroom before Thanksgiving.... ...

Beautiful rich colors in the picture! Not often the wind is calm enough to allow the the smooth reflection you captured.
