Memorial day
Memorial day As most of us know today was set up to honor the died from the American Civil War. In my youth I was a huge Lincoln fan. At another time perhaps I will discuss my views on him as I have aged. In Lincoln's second swearing in speech he said with malice toward none and charity for all. Even today I believe that our service men still live by this. Look at how America rebuilt Germany and Japan after the second World War. Iraqi and Afganistan in recent times. I think back today toward the young men who gave there lives for peace. Somalia trying to allow people to eat. Lebanon trying to stop the fighting. Young men and women will die in combat. What I grieve most today, are those who while trying to keep the peace have been killed. To all our Vets, my heart felt thanks, especially those who have served protecting others. |
