Things that make us feel better!

Isn't it funny how a song or a movie can change the way we feel in an instant?
We can be happy & all it takes is a song on the radio or a weepy film, to make us sad!
Or being sad & hearing a song that bring back happier times & makes us smile or a comedy that lightens our mood.
I finally managed to buy myself my favorite film this week. (I knew ebay would be good for something one day!)
It's only taken me 21 yrs to get a copy of it on dvd (slightly pirate copy granted)!
It's of a very obscure film called Hawks, with Timothy Dalton.
I should have been a cult film, but it was never released on dvd & only available on video in the states.
I've only seen it on TV here twice since it was made.
So it kind of lets the side down for it to acquire a great following!
Bit of a shame really, as it deserves to be!
I will admit it is a bit of both when it comes to it being either a film that will make you happy or sad!
All I know is that when I watch it, it gives me a kick up the arse & makes me stop feeling sorry for myself.
I have it good, compared with others!
Also received today a copy of David Niven's film 'A matter of life & death'.
That one just shows me that love can win over all obstacles, if you try hard enough.
So what film/song, means something to you & why?
It would be interesting to find out if there's a common film or song that affects both men & women in the same way!

I was reading your post and I have though about that a few times and found it interesting. How my feeling can change in the moment of seeing or doing something, Since I'm still in two foot of snow I find myself bum alot, and riding Hogs is the love of my life, so the snow makes it tuff to kick out of a down mood. Beleive me when things are down I get on my Hog and go for a ride and come home a happy person, nothing can kick my ass(it does but doesn't last long). even though there's snow I'll still find things to change my mood, for instants, a blizzer today and I was stuck in the house, then this evening it let up and ten deer showed up right out my window.. I love wildlife. Or it could be the snowcap trees and mountains around me or a good ass country song. You just never know. always stay ruff and ready!!!

Hi T,

Songs have unbelievable power to control our emotions.

They drag out all sorts of feelings.

My favourite film is that old cheesy standard "Its a Wonderful Life."

Corny, I know but it just oozes human kindness.

Favourite songs, have two both by U2.
With or without you
Still haven't found what I'm looking for. Tells you something about me hey ? But then being sisters, we already know each other.
Movies a bit harder.
Do like "the Rose" cry every time.
"Life as a House" Another sob story.
"Chocolat" Can't forget that one. Johnny Depp in it.
"Mean Machine" Vinnie Jones.
Hang on. Thought I said it was going to be hard. Could keep going, but I won't.
Let someone else have a turn.

Must be nice to be able to jump on your hog & leave the world behind!
But as you said, the feeling goes once you stop.
Would be a great idea if we could bottle the feeling & sell it.
We would be very rich people indeed.
At least you have something nice to look at out of your window at, unlike me.
So you didn't tell me what ass kicking country song does it for you?

Nothing wrong with a film that oozes human kindness!
It's a lot better than the mindless drivel pumped out nowadays.
I will admit that I don't think I have ever watched 'It's a wonderful life' all the way through.
I've either caught the beginning or the end of it.
Will try my best to watch it, the next time it is on.

Two very good songs.
I will admit they probably come in my top 20 all time favourites.
Saw "The rose" & "Chocolat" years ago, but never seen "Life as a house" or "Mean machine".
Two more that I will have to look out for!

I know exactly what you mean.
I'm even growing my hair longer, so that it has a better effect the next time it comes on the radio.
Every time I hear "unchained melody", I want to take up pottery, for some strange reason.
Or, "I heard it through the grape vine", always envisages dancing raisins.

Speaking of things that make us feel better..For me it's music! I have such a large collection not only on cd but on audio tape and vinyl. It has taken me over three months to convert 300 albums from tape to cd. Now I have so much more music to play which had just simply been sitting there ! hearing these albums again reminded me of just how good they were and of what i was missing by not playing them simply because they weren't on cd!
Just thought I'd share that with you guys !

So which one makes you feel the best out of the 300 you have converted?
Every one has a favorite, even out of a large record collection that you posses.

'A Matter of Life and Death' ...... Now that IS a classic

I quite like (I think you could call it cult) the film Dark Star, which depicts the human programming of computers to be able to reason could be our downfall!!!

Glad you like it as well.
See, computers will always be our problem, even being on this site!
