Me time!

Last Monday, I had my 1st, 'Me day', in what seemed like years.
Me & my partner had been working away from home near Southampton, last weekend & our company had given us a hotel while we were there.
The job finished early, so instead of driving home, in the early hours of the morning, as we usually do, I went back to the hotel & took advantage of it, till kicking out time at 11am.
We got up, had breakfast & then went on a magical mystery tour of the coast, from Southampton & ending up in Weymouth, my favorite seaside destination.
The weather that day, wasn't as nice as it had been on the Sunday.
It was very overcast, but at least it wasn't raining.
After a few pit-stops, along the coast, we ended up in Weymouth, were we found ourselves a nice little pub, that had a lovely open fire going & a large pan of mulled cider on the go.
After that, the other half decided that having a look around the shops with me, was not one of his favorite things in the world, so he went back to the van for a snooze.
So left to my own devices, I went exploring.
I love the weird & wonderful array of shops you only get at the seaside.
Even thou I didn't buy myself anything, (Trust me, if I had the money I would have), I ended up on the beach.
For those of you, who have never been to Weymouth, the sand there is absolutely wonderful.
It is so fine, that in the summer there is a man who makes the most wonderful sand sculptures with it.
His work was still there on my visit on Monday.
He had carved the cast of Johnny Depp version of Alice in Wonderland & the cast of Pooh Bear.
All out of only sand & water.
So after admiring his work for a little while, I made my way onto the sand.
Off came the shoes & there I was, beside the occasional walker, strolling along a nearly deserted beach.
I did get a few strange looks from the walkers, who were dressed up to the hilt with Winter clothes & boots & me barefoot.
But I didn't care.
To just walk along, with the soft sand beneath my feet was wonderful.
I spent about an hour, just lost in my own thoughts & the rest of my world, far behind me.
Nothing, in the past couple of years has come anywhere near it!

Not felt that relaxed in ages.

It was just what the doctor ordered.
It was just a shame that I had to come home!

Me time is important. I'm glad you had such a wonderful day.

About time you had some time to yourself. Love Weymouth, often take the kids camping there. X

So you found a beach with sand.

Glad you listened (very rare) to me and didn't just drive home when he had finished.

So where is the photos of the sand sculptures? I love them and wish I could do them. But what heart break when the waves come in and take away all that hard work, a bit like the chalk artists, a bit of rain and it's all gone.

I did wave to you when I passed your town.
I wasn't that brave to go for a swim on Monday.
Mind you, if the weather had been as nice as it is today, I may have had a dip?????
I just wish I lived a little closer to Weymouth, than I do now!

The only thing that was missing, that may have made the day, a whole lot better, was if the sun had come out to play.
But I can't really complain, for a November day in England, it wasn't that bad.

All I need is a sandy beach.
No matter what the weather may bring.
I have been known to go paddling in the sea, when there has been snow on the sand.

I really needed it.
Never been camping there, but I have stayed in a few of the beachfront guest houses.
You just can't beat Weymouth.

Weymouth has even better sand, than most of Sydney's beaches!
I would have taken some pictures, but I hadn't expected to go to the seaside on Monday & hadn't charged the batteries in the camera.
I did try, but it was as dead as a dodo.

The idea is a nice one, but alas, money won't allow me to do it, too often.
Anyway, if I did it more often, it wouldn't be such a wonderful change, now would it?

Happy to hear you had a lovely day.

On the good side, there were dog walkers and not cat walkers. Cats tend to bury their gifts, while dogs let them be admired. Walking bare foot around cat walkers on a beach is not a good idea.

Sorry. I didn't stop off at Studland Bay.
Thought you may have been doing a little, 'Posing', on the beach there yourself!
Nothing really compares to walking along a nearly deserted beach & just listening to the waves crash on the shore.

It was wonderful.
It has been years since I last did something, as spontaneous as that.
Just wish it wasn't as far away, as it is.

I will have to admit, that I did have to keep my eyes down, most of the time, as it not tread in one of the dogs, 'Offerings'!
For most of the year, dogs are not allowed on the beach.
But seeing that the Summer season is not technically finished with, they are allowed back on.
Not good for all year bare foot beach walkers, like me!

If you're are on about West Quay shopping center in Southampton, I haven't made it there yet.
I much prefer Weymouth & it's weird little gift shops, to brows anytime.
