Icebreakers - How's It Going Ladies?

Last week we launched a new feature for standard women called Icebreakers.

What is an Icebreaker?
- Woman get a Silver membership in exchange for allowing us to send new men messages, flirts, friend invites and hotlists
- These Icebreakers are sent automatically on the woman's behalf to men who are within their cupid settings
- Women can turn this feature on or off at any time, it's totally opt-in
- Woman can write whatever they want in the message as long as it's not fraud. A lot that I've seen are pretty hot. Many are writing tips for using the site

Requirements for Women:
- Have to be a standard member (so we can upgrade them to Silver)
- Have at least one photo uploaded
- Have to write an Icebreaker message (which we review before sending it)

How's it going so far?:
- It’s now being sent to 25% of men who register. We're moving slowly and seeing how it impacts everyone.
- It doesn't look like women are getting bombarded, but let me know your experience.
- I've heard from a few posts like ICE BREAKER RESPONSES!! that men are still being men, ignoring the greeting and going straight to "wanna suck my dick baby.".

Doesn't this invite fraud?
- We wait until a standard female has met certain requirements to make this offer. - So guys who turn around and sign up as women won't get the offer either, at least not right away.
- We're not sharing what that period is and we'll be changing it around based on how it's working

Do you have your Icebreaker on? What's your experience so far?

Got a response JUST NOW from a 27 year old that got my 'ice breaker' and he didn't EVEN read it. Sent an 'quick response' of "I am looking for someone older" so he missed out on the cheery welcome and tips on how the site works completely. HE JUST signed up today. The profile has NOTHING. Everything is 'prefer not to say' so I am guessing he came here thinking he was going to get instant whores to service him and 'get laid in 24 hours' and so therefore he didn't NEED to read MY email. I find it funniest of all that they bitch they get no emails then they bitch when they get one, regardless of what it COULD have said.

Go to : My Account - Preferences - Icebreaker preferences. There you can disable, edit, and modify the flirt/hotlist/friend invite settings.

For distance check your Cupid settings. My Account - Pefernces - Maximum Distance, this is how 'matches' are determined. However people are saying that Icebreakers are being sent to men outside their distance setting, it would be helpful if you could re-post once you have checked this and confirm if this is the case in your experience.

I'm not sure whether my icebreaker message is being sent out yet. I haven't received any responses to it yet. Granted, my Cupid Settings are fairly narrow, and my message was definitely not sexual. I HAVE noticed that my profile is getting a lot more views now that I'm a Silver Member.

It does worry me that women who haven't been on the site very long are being offered a free membership. How do you determine whether you're offering this to all the fakes that you're trying to get rid of? I was hoping that this plan would actually push the fakes out of view by raising the real women up to the top of search results.

At any rate, thank you (to whoever thought of this) for the silver. I hope everything works out properly with this.

Thanks for the feature, I hope it stays. I will just choose very narrow cupid setings, if I happen to get too many responses.

Sorcha, that is why I posted what I did. The one guy was 27 and most definitely everything said 'prefer not to say', not one thing was filled out so there was NO WAY of matching anything with what I had.
.
I have noted as well that my membership has been reduced to one year and I KNOW it said 'lifetime'.
.
My message is most certainly not one of the whorish examples either, it was actually rather helpful and informative I thought.
.
Guys, something is not right as these are not getting sent to people matching our Cupid anything.

Okay, here is my feedback. I have been getting a plethora of flirts now. I have had my first email back today regarding the Ice Breaker. This is what he wrote me....
.
Message: hi would u like to mess around???
.
Ummmm.. yeah.. that is totally NOT what my Ice Breaker said. It specifically said to treat women with respect and we are NOT whores. I also said if it wouldn't work offline it isn't going to work ONLINE and that was all he wrote me in response to it.
.
For the record, my Ice Breaker does say welcome to the site, please be patient, and gives my preferences. All of which he ignored to just say 'f*ck me', he is 57 not 5.

I think this now a case of a difference between CUPID settings and profile!
In cupid you cannot define if there's 'prefer not to say' etc.

It's mainly the age and some other basic things.

Actually, they can't match anything with a profile, that is all typed out. Your cupid settings are as you said: age, height, distance, marital status, smoker, drinker, have kids, etc... IF someone has 'looking for single men no more than 50 miles from me over 6' tall' when you look at the profiles you will see RED X's on the ones that do not match. THAT is the 'cupid settings'. With that said, how can they possibly say 'this is a good match to the cupid settings' of someone did NOT even fill them out??? i.e. Prefer not to Say in everything.

I think that was the point she was making. If you haven't filled anything out, it can't match it with anything at all. I would think, my own opinion, that this person should NOT have gotten an Ice Breaker at all as he did not fill anything out to match it to anyone.

I signed up for the ice breaker and have not been bombarded with emails. I would not agree to allow invites or emails just flirts and hotlists. I think it's a great deal for us ladies but may give the guys recieving them a false impression. I think sending a copy of our profile with the icebreaker would be a VERY good idea since my specifically says not to contact me unless they have read my profile. Thanks for posting and checking in with us.

One would have to be careful on this Dom. "Not seeking" doesn't mean they are not looking for something. Ionlyshow and Itsallfantasy are two here for exhibitionism only. They ARE looking to get people to 'watch'. How about people that are here to have flirty, naughty emails? Just because they don't want to meet in person doesn't mean they are not looking.

Don't assume every guy is getting your email.

We are only going to send one thing to each guy. Maybe it's a hotlist/flirt/email/who's viewed me. We aren't going to send them all to the same guy. Just one of those from you.
Interesting, and probably a good thing, I think this is widely misunderstood.

But this does mean that women have know way of knowing who an Icebreaker has been sent to, which many want to know to avoid confusion. Any chance a copy of Icebreaker can be saved to the woman's outbox as with a normal email ?

What happens when a male doesn't set Cupid preferences ? Will he get more matches for less setting input ?

I know you are considering attaching copy of woman's profile to Icebreaker, I think that would be great and from what I see most women really want this as the guy can't see her profile. Perhaps even as an option then win/win, everybody happy.

We, your readers, knowing about functionallity but the newbies are receiving messages like this: (and then you offer filtering penis?):

"...me empujas contra la pared, y me desgarras la ropa porque me quieres tener ahora mismo y no puedes esperar hasta llegar al dormitorio, ese tipo de pasión es lo más sexy que hay. Eso es lo que quiero."
-
The site suggest me this example of first icebreaker message: "You push me against the wall, you rip my clothes with penetration because you can´t wait before reach the bedroom. That type of passion is the most sexy. That´s i want."
-
-If you Read only the subtitled you have not any doubt: That´s the perfect description of a .
-If you read all, could be interpretated as a message from the slave to hes Master, most appropriate for a sadomasochistic site (and even there, never as a first contact!).
-In addition to your guarantee and vulgar propaganda, they get the impression to joining-in a site for fast sex with easy girls. and then how do you expect better behaviours, polites messages, etc with this policy???
The developer of this madness must be a failed Machiavello´s fan.
-
aah! of course, your solution is attract that type of members, to get upgrades and then, block/filter them.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

I admit, I thought the way it read that the person getting the email would be hotlisted as well, not one OR the other. I do agree, the women in this program SHOULD SEE who you are sending it to so they are not totally in the dark. GOOD IDEA!!

We'll renew the year automatically. Don't worry, if your icebreaker is active, then we will keep you silver.

I think the "for life" is more accurate as "for life, as long as you meet the requirements." Which isn't very interesting to say, so we dropped the "for life." Now it just says you'll get a free silver membership if you have an Icebreaker. Plus, if this tanks and people hate it - we're going to pull it.
My initial thought was, after seeing the offer was for life and that my silver balls were till next January, that this is my best before date... time to kick the bucket...

Might be good to change something, the wording or the end date...

More than that, what about "Prefer not to say"?

If I do a search on women excluding those who are married or attached I still get all those who "Prefer not to say".

If a man has a profile full of these then does he fit any woman's cupid settings?

By the way, it would be good if FriendFinder-x also sorted the distance problems. As far as you're concerned I'm still 122Km away from where I live - how would that affect newbies getting emails from "local" women?

So far so good although I am getting a lot of men from "over the pond" and the usual where do you live, do you live alone and when can I fuck you? it's all good. I thank you so much I enjoy getting the attention.

So far, I got one response and that seems to be cuz of a glitch. The dude turned off his profile for a while then turned it back on. Looks like the system thought he was a newbie and sent my icebreaker. But he seems to be a nice guy so we'll see how things go.

I'm not expecting much of a response anyway since the expats here want the mythical Asian creatures they hear and dream about

I hope you guys give the "feature" a chance and let some time pass before making any decisions. Let's face it, illiterate clueless idiots will always be illiterate clueless idiots regardless they get the icebreaker or not. But at least dudes're getting an email from real women, not a bunch of flirts from bots.

If you need to crack down on the qualifications, offer Silver only to women who've gained popularity privileges for a set period of time.

    Ugh...hmmm

    I don't actually know.

Lemme ask what we are doing with Prefer Not To Say. Can you give me the member name that had that? There has to be something he matched up on.
This bothers me. "There must be something he matched on." I think we are all under the impression that these are only being sent out to men who FULLY match our cupid settings! I think is very safe to say that NONE of us want an icebreaker sent to someone who only matches in one or 2 categories!

I am pretty confident that is what has been happening, however. Emails and the like being sent to men who are not full matches, who only match instead in a couple of categories. I have seen flirts show up in my flirts sent, that I know I didn't send, that were sent to men who very clearly do not match may racial preference. I also received a reply email to an icebreaker, in which he tells me he does not match my racial preference (which I have clearly indicated as only Caucasian in my cupid settings, and my icebreaker message, just to be safe.) I can't yet see his profile however, to see what box he checked, since he is a new member.

If Icebreakers are being sent to men who do not totally, completely and FULLY match a womans cupid settings, this needs to be made clear to us, so that we can adjust our messages, and possibly re-evaluate our participation!
