Pride update

I've been remiss in not posting about Indy Pride last weekend Indy Pride.

We had a FUCKING blast!!!!

It was a PERFECT day, weather-wise, unlike last year when it was like 1300c and 40,000% humidity..

It was cool with a mix of sun and clouds with a general clearing to full blown sun by the afternoon.

'Mona' and I picked up 'Lori' and we headed downtown too meet up with a bunch of friends. We normally watch the parade from the same spot every year.

Now I'm not a HUGE fan of parades being mostly from the school of 'if you've seen one.....' but the Pride parade is 'different'

LOL That's an understatement... (See the pic above)

Anywhoo, the parade was a hoot and when it was over, they opened up the gates and we ALL headed into the Festival itself along with thousands and thousands of our fellow 'Priders'..

Indy Pride has grown and grown and GROWN and now, it's actually bigger than the 500 Festival Parade and that folks is a big, world-wide affair and has been for decades and decades.

Indy Pride has become a 'big deal'... LOL

So, Lori & Co. find a nice spot just inside the 'grounds' as Mona and I headed to the drink tent in search of a cool, frosty 'libation'. Mona couldn't go inside the tent with me since she had left her ID at home so she took up position just outside of the tent door.

While the parade and festival are free, drinks cost ya and you have to buy tickets in order to purchase a drink. I had gotten us some drink tickets as we entered the festival and headed into the tent, which as I'm SURE you can imagine, was packed!! Over on the left as I walked in, Absolute had a nice little table setup with 3-4 huge coolers and a lovely looking red-head with a VERY come-hither smile manning the spigots. It was totally devoid of any people whereas the other 'drink stations' where packed, 20-30 people to a line..

$10 worth of tickets later, I walked out with two HUGE plastic buckets full of a lemonade/Absolute/ice concoction that smelled and tasted like it was just FULL of vodka.

Mona and I started walking around through the various tents and displays that pack a huge portion of War Memorial Park in downtown Indy. As I said, the whole place was PACKED and populated with virtually EVERY 'freak' in the Indy Metro area.

Goth, BDSM/Leather, Seven foot tall cross-dressers, bull-dykes, lesbians, gay guys etc all dressed in their 'finest'

This my friends is people watching Nirvana!!!

After walking around a bit, checking out the various tents and sampling a rather good hot dog, we settled down on a shady, grassy little knoll on the side of the huge lawn were the main stage was located.

We were right behind a tent full of bull-dykes who had come PREPARED I tell ya! They had a canopy overhead, blankets on the ground, chaise lounges, coolers and chairs everywhere. They were there for the 'duration' and had a prime spot IMHO. (Note to self: NEXT year I do the Pridefest like they do it, or get Mona and I invited to THEIR tent)

The first bucket of vodka totally kicked both of our asses as we sat there and watched the various bands and people watched ourselves into oblivion. I struck up a conversation with the 'head' bull-dyke and she clued me in on how to get my 'gear' into the Festival early next year! I am forever in her debt and if she EVER needs a foot slave, I'm her boy

A mother and her 18 year old sat down next to us and Mona struck up a conversation with them. Turns out he's gay, totally out and his mother fully supports him even to the point of bringing him to GayPride. He and I had a running conversation throughout the rest of the afternoon and it turns out that he's a VERY intelligent young man who, mainly because of his mothers influence I'd wager, is VERY well adjusted, secure within himself and totally open and honest about his sexual orientation, not to mention being very well versed on a full range of topics. Very refreshing to see in a 18 year old boy.

Lori & Co. finally ambled by and joined us on the that shady little knoll and by the third bucket of vodka, I was feeling absolutely (No pun) no pain...

I was so comfortable and it was just such a perfect spot and day in general.

As the afternoon wore on we both finally got up and 'walked' around through the rest of the park, back to our car and headed home.

We were both hungry so we stopped at a lovely little cafe down along the canal in an area called Broadripple' and where we had a wonderful little respite along with some nice, live jazz..

All and all, it was pretty much a perfect day! I can't wait until next year!!! -tm

Sounds like a great time, TM. Be careful with the drinking and driving part, though.
