Romancing the stone....  I AM a true romantic at heart. Always have been. Hell the whole essence of The PPPS is nothing if not romance. At least that's how I approach it. I think a lot of guys are pretty much clueless when it comes to romance in general and even moreso when it comes to sex. In our defense, we're really never 'taught' HOW to be romantic. There's no Romance 101 offered anywhere and pretty much we're left to trying to figure it out by ourselves, with the help of you ladies of course. That's all predicated on the guy in question even caring enough TO learn and/or research/figure it out.. Good luck with THAT LOL  That's a shame though because there is no surer way to a womans heart (and pussy) than romance my friends. Romance is actually a VERY cerebral thing. It's all in the mind and I think that's where part of the problem is because, as we all know, guys think with their dicks. LOL My age old statement about how men and women look at sex comes into play here: Women need a REASON to have sex, men just need a place! Over the years, I've seen the truth of this statment first hand, over and over again. A lot of times, that 'reason' for women is in fact romance. Sure there's a LOT more to that reason and of course, every girl is different so your mileage may vary here but I'm talking in generalities here So, with all that being said, I'd LOVE to hear from you girls on this topic if for no other reason than for the guys who read this to see what YOU think and maybe, just maybe, your thoughts and comments will be able to spark a revolution out here and HELP us men to be more romantic and attentive to your needs...  -tm |

I'm in agreement with 2TeachMe1964 - the ideas of romance (and even love) vary widely. Flowers, cards, chocolates, and those "traditional" things (as well as lit candles) are kinda hokey and don't do a thing for me. It's the cuddling, hand-holding, closeness, personal gestures that do it for me. You've heard of the Five Love Languages - right? Supposedly why people get their wires crossed, because we give and want love expressed in different ways - and often they don't mesh with what is perceived as loving/romantic gestures by your partner? Inspiration for a blog post - I'll explain it there.

I think it depends, sometimes women want to be romanced (the most common one), some women want to be romanced (just not by me/you/him/her but by me/you/him/her instead) Some women just need a place. I am romantic with women and when I was dating men (rather than just hooking up with) I was romantic with them too. Men do see romance differently though. Such as oh you found a place to have sex? How romantic! lol

You're right, though beware when you think romance is candlelight and roses for all women. It can be as simple as a daisy or help with dishes or anything that gives of yourself and to the particular needs of that woman. It's highly individual and it is in the brain indeed. If my brain is not convinced then the body does not respond. And a mass of compliments on looks or much of the typical "I want in your pants" moves isn't going to cut it with me. And, yes, I know I'm not alone in that.
