Punctuating Sex: Question Marks, Declarative Sentences, Exclamation Points, etc.

Early on, when I first began blogging on FriendFinder-x, I penned a sequence of four posts, entitled “Grammatical Erotica,” devoted to offering advice (or what I called verbal Viagra) about sexing up our prose…..making it more seductive, potent, provocative.

Circumstances have led me to reflect more about the erotics of punctuation, as I have been giving more thought to the talk, the writing—the verbal intercourse—with a lover that becomes such a reciprocal act to the stimulation and conduct of sexual intercourse.

For me, seduction—the beginning of a new love, a new relationship, an affair—begins in the interrogative mode, with lovers asking questions, inquiring, opening each other up with the looks, the touches, and kisses of curiosity. The end point of the seduction seems to be the moment when the interrogative mode gives way to the declarative sentence and the exclamation: I love you. I want you. Take me! Fuck me!! OMG!!!.

But for me, and I’m sure for many others, the best sex, the most beautiful lovemaking, can be measured not just by what happens when words give way to declarative action: the incarnation of the spirit in the flesh. It can be measured instead or even better by the quality of words—-the whispers, the confessions, the flow of talk, the cascade of words--that follow being swept away by acts love (or lust).

For me, the distinction I make between lust and love, seduction for sex and an affair of the heart, is linguistic: If I am seducing, if it is just lust, the words are all foreplay, a vehicle to get me to the content of fucking my brains out. But if it is love, an affair of the heart, then the fucking becomes a way to engage in what truly bonds me in a relationship: good talk, beautiful talk, fun talk…the stimulation of banter and wit, of confessions and stories, my lover and I Scherazades to each other.

I love girl talk and asking a woman about sex and what she really wants in bed (and even outside of it). The more she takes me inside of her....telling me who she is, how she feels, what she loves, where her heart lies, and when she gets most turned on....the more I want to be inside of her, giving her knowledge about me—and carnal knowledge--of how my mind thinks, how my body works, how my heart opens and closes, and, then in bed, or when naked, how I feel about her, each act of sex a new message, each kiss a new sentence, each thrust an exclamation point.

Yes, when I strip down before her, and she sees the exclamation point of my desire, and she gets to feel--by kissing me, by caressing my body, by holding my balls while sucking and pumping my cock--all I've been storing up in my mind and heart for her, the time for questions will be over, and it will all be declarative sentences, words and acts expressing my desire for her…and some commands, tacit or explicit: I love you. I want you. Spread open for me. Play with yourself. Fuck me.

But then in the afterglow, will come more talk, the glorious, blissful, ecstasy of joyous verbal ejaculation. Then and there, at that moment: Whisper to me. Confess to me. Give me more of your girl-talk. Ask me more questions.

Dear Ms. V,

I believe deeply in the self-examined and articulated life.

What matters to me most (as I explain in an early blog of mine) is a passionate commitment to the realms of logos and eros.

The blog world of FriendFinder-x is a special delight as it gathers together from around the USA and the world remarkably bright, articulate, poetic, erotic women.

Just as you value "intellect and articulation" in a man so do I in a woman: It is the best aphrodisiac.

Or here is my top three list of what attracts me most:

3. A woman who is kind, generous, conscientious, empathetic, and who can whisper in my ear in more than one language.

2. A woman who reads promiscuously....who loves many different authors.....who has books strewn all around her bedroom.

1. A bright, artistic, creative woman who writes beautifully...a poet, an architect, a musician...and an blogger who intrigues and allures through style, wit, insight.

I'm so delighted to have crossed paths with you on FriendFinder-x, and I look forward to meeting and merging again in the intersections of this FriendFinder-x blog world.
