It's never too late

I work at a nursing home as many of you already know. Here is a beautiful little story that is developing as I write:
An older woman came to live in the home after she broke her hip. For months all she did was cry and lament that her boyfriend had dumped her as she was "too old" and had become "a burden". She was depressed and convinced that she would die alone and unloved. Recently an older widower has come to live down the hall from her. As things go there are many activities and of course meals served in the large dining area, and their paths crossed. While their bodies may not be all they used to be, their minds are still sharp and full of experiences and knowledge. They hit it off immediately.
They were spotted many times kissing and caressing and sharing long loving looks. They hold hands as best they can while going down the hall to their seperate rooms.
We have policies about privacy of course, but we also have policies about doing 30 minute safety checks, to make sure everyone is safe and their whereabouts known. The other evening his door was closed and the staff knew she was in there with him, but it is requiredd to have visual confirmation. The staff in charge of this task was afraid to interrupt but knew that it had to be done and so appraised her supervisor of the situation and her discomfort of doing so. So the nurse in charge uneasy with it herself called her boss whom came over to do a "safety check" with her. They knocked loudly but as both of the residents are hard of hearing they did not hear it. The scene walked in on was that she was giving him a blow job.
The poor man caught with his pants literally around his ankles shuffled as quickly as he could to the bathroom and locked the door mortified to be caught in such a situation. Without missing a beat the boss asked the woman how her heart was, and she replied that it was fluttering a bit.
I'll just bet it was! Many of my co workers are "disgusted" by this recent development and are not shy about expressing it amongst themselves. Personally I have a different opinion and have been loudly sharing it. I think it's great! When I am old and in the end phase of my life I hope to hell to have a "special friend" like that. The body may wither but the heart beats on and love continues.
Hope you all have enjoyed my little tale. Salut!

My father died from prostate cancer at 62, but still managed to have sex up until he was 60! It's a matter of how young you feel, rather than your age...or even level of health.

Wow, that's a great story and you have such a great attitude! Thanks for sharing. May I ask, how old are the protagonists?

Respect..

We try to warehouse old people and tend to forget they are people. If they are not allowed to live while there, then they are really just waiting to die, and that's not fair. I wonder if it adds to the excitement, kinda like trying to not get caught by your parents as a teen.

You are exactly right, some people do tend to think that way. It is them that I try to teach the most, and poke at their bubbles full of preconcieved semi-thoughts so that I may pop them. You think trying to sneak around while a teen is hard and exciting, try having midgets.
