Who do you see?

Who do you see?

I had an interesting thought the other day. Well interesting to me anyways. When I read something I get a mental image of where the words and thoughts are coming from. I preconceived notion if you will. I envision a person a certain way from their own descriptions and the thoughts that flow from their heads. I imagine features and quirks. I imagine what it would be like to spend an hour, a day whatever with the person. What would they be like in real life? What do they sound like?
So I got to thinking, what image do others "see" when they're reading my ramblings on and such? Do they envision me as I envision myself? Is the image they're getting even close to who I am?
I've been way off before. I've read some people's words and then seen a picture and been blown away. Just not at all what I pictured in my mind. I've even met some people after reading things, and spent some time with them. Again, nothing at all like what I'd imagined. On the flip side of that, I've known some people and then read their stuff, and I wouldn't have even imagined what was going on in their heads.
So is this experience unique to me? I don't think so. Anyone care to share an experience where you had a different notion about someone based on reading their stuff vs actually meeting them?

Preconceived notions can be dangerous!

I think I know what you mean though and I go through a similar thought process. I'm still new to blogdom and I haven't met anyone as yet, so I can't help you much there I'm afraid. I am assuming you are meaning actually meeting someone live and in the flesh, so to speak.

I have been surprised a couple of times when watching someones blog for a little while though. Enjoying the usual quirky, fun posts when all of the sudden there will be one that is quite frank and personal. It's quite a revelation to me sometimes when I find out there seems to be no indication of what goes on inside someones head, or in their life in general for that matter, in the usual, mundane, but still quirky and fun, posts.

I, too have a couple friends IRL that also have blogs (not on this site) It is fun to see a side of them I never even knew existed before coming across in their typings.

Are you a Viking?

LOL No worries, we all love hobbits! I have the same unphotogenic issue I think. Or I just criticize myself to death. Either way the pictures of me that I have, it's not the me I see in the mirror.

Don't know about the danger involved, but it is surprising! People are multifaceted, and no one will ever know all of what goes on in one's head.
I could be a viking. Dress up that is. I'm more partial to pirates though. Arg Matey!
