 Not to perpetuate any sort of stereotype about people down here in the South, but the tooth thing is actually so common of a preference, women specifically call attention to it in their dating profiles in our immediate area. More of a reason to take care of those pearly whites.

I see it as a matter of hygiene. Besides, dentures become part of the conversation much later in life. Guys without teeth who haven't hit retirement age yet damn well better have a history of playing hockey or boxing as an excuse for the gaps in their smile. I can think of a few lifestyle choices that go hand in hand with poor dentition. None of them even remotely resemble qualities a good man would have.
