Remembrance of Things Past

It is with a heavy heart that I relate to you the closing of the Erotic Heritage Museum here in Las Vegas. Despite winning rave reviews from the likes of Frommer's and Fodor's for its frank and humorous look at the sexual foibles of humanity through the ages, as well as its tributes to the great X-rated stars of yore, it fell prey to a dispute between the proprietor and his landlord. True, its location on a street dotted with strip clubs (in fact it's parked beneath the tall sign for the Deja Vu Love Boutique) may have dissuaded the casual tourist, and its hours had dwindled due to a shortage of volunteers, but it's sad to see it go.

However it still lives on in a minor way, as several posters for vintage adult films are still hanging on its exterior walls. I suppose the temptation to hang this one must have been irresistible.

"Write it on your heart that every day is the best day of the year." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
