...And today's big question is.... ....Finger and toe nails.....WHY? Why have we evolved with them? Please discuss. Ok, so finger nails do admittedly facilitate a few advantages such as delicate actions but what exact purpose do toe nails serve? And whilst you're pondering this seemingly infathamable question, here are the record holders for the world's longest nails.... . . . .  Nasty eh? And bloody useless to! You couldn't even scratch your own arse with those! |

Well you know that fingernails protect the tips of our fingers from splinters and other hard & sharp objects from penetrating them, and for protecting the nerve endings on the tips of our fingers. Toenails are there to protect our toes (which help us balance) from things that drop onto them so we don't lose the tips as easily. Och, it's obvious is it no' brother?? Finger nails are for bogey extraction. Toe nails are for cheese production. Simple!  And a happy new year to ye!

Simple, toes nails are for scratching lovers in bed when they make you mad. You can make it look accidental. Fingernails are for scratching your own itches and for picking stickers off of recently purchased items.

That's just ridiculous! At a nail a salon once, I sat next to a woman with really, really long nails and I couldn't help but stare. I just couldn't imagine her getting anything done.

I posit that toenails are for flirting with bosses and fellow students (who see them under the desk when you "absentmindedly" (read: totally on purpose) slip your shoes off while working), or with massage clients, a la Phoebe Buffay. I've just been painting them pink, but maybe I should paint "DTF" all over them with my nail art pen?  Fingernails, of course, are for stroking your cat. Mine has only been with us for a week and is already expressing his preference for long nails over short ones. (He's sulking today because I just filed them down.)
