10 Figs

Jesus’
Sense of manhood
was never threatened by
The tenderness of a woman-
Her soft openness, her tinted
Fleshy and most sacred,
Creamy depths...
Ground dried cumin
Hops vines growing along the road
Roman paths for traveling to and from,
Her depths
Pungent honey-damp scent…
While sucking open a
Ripened fig,
Luke told of a woman who came…
Came to see him- and
Kneeling, weeping over Jesus’ feet,
Kneecaps digging into the
Rugged and bruising
Scared crevices down on that
Temple floor,
Swaying as for a moment
The incense thickened about her
Dewy shoulders and damp
Eyelids dropping…
Her body is overwhelmed, she is
Bathing them,
Cascades of salty warmth-
Tears upon his sandals...
In return, taking pleasure in her worship,
Jesus anoints them each with perfume
Sliding his fingertips
Over one than the other foot- laboriously
Before drying them
With her jasmine-scented hair,
Tendrils teasing down over the smooth
Creases of each individual
Five figs here, and yes;
Five more figs just there-

"Feet" by Unquiet Clay

The imagery is so vivid... you can almost smell the scene the way you have written it. I never thought of that moment in time as being as humid as you described here until now. It's both powerful and gentle. Magnificent.
Dear IC:

Well, thank you - abolutely my sweet. It is so wonderful you were able to visit. Now that you know the trick, I hope you'll be able to return now and again?

XOXO

Thank you! I am so glad people are digging back to the ancient posts from before most people knew of me.

And yes, humanity. That's right!

Dear Irish Party Boy,

I feel overwhelmed with your praises, for nearly all or all my works here. You are too, too kind. I love the fact that you have carefully considered each piece and sought out something worth commenting on for each one. I'm agog...well, not so much but- you have set me the Stygian task of reply (it is but common courtesy) so in this I shall be awhile.

Graciously? I Hope,
Mariana

What some consider sacrosact is taken to a place of the sexually sublime. The words, the mind which forged them, and the mouth they came from. Delicious.
