Was anyone else at the Eagles Concert last night?

Bethel Woods was packed to the rafters. I've been going to concerts there for years now and "sold out" usually refers to them selling out the reserved seating. However, last night they also sold out the lawn. There wasn't a patch of green to be seen, and people were standing on the walkways throughout the concert.

I was lucky to have a seat, in what they called the "rear orchestra" last night, but usually call the "bleechers". LMAO, I never knew that seating was subjective to the caliber of concert.

We paid $165 for last nights "nosebleed" seats, whereas, a few weeks ago I could almost touch the stage for $75. And honestly, I was more awed struck seeing Joan Baez than I was seeing any of the Eagles. I know, my taste/opinions do not run parallel to the mainstream.

There is a side story I need to tell. In front of me were a couple and their autistic . Throughout the show the parents tried tiredlessly to engage their . Their energy, effort, and over-exaggerations were not lost on any of us nearby. It was only during "Heartache Tonight" that the boy's body unstiffened. He stood and danced up and down in place, and at one point turned and spoke to his parents for the first time all evening. The parents beamed!

I remember going to concerts as a young man in NYC. Late 1960's free Grateful Dead in Central park, Fillmore East, even remember sitting in the 3rd row at Lincoln Center at a Jimi Hendrix show. Saw the Eagles, Joan Baez, Bob Dylan and so many more over those years. Back then, tickets were reasonably affordable and there were many free concerts available. I was even at Woodstock in '69.

Bethel Woods is a major rip-off. Unlike the values and principles many of the performers appearing there used to hold to, now it is all about the $$$$. "Woodstock" back in the day meant something and stood for something. Today all it stands for is greed and commercialism.

We live in a world of greed. You are correct about the Woodstock greed, however, they are not alone, and not the worst. NOT BY FAR! My Eagles ticket on Thursday night cost under $200 and got me a seat with a clear view of the stage. At many of the other venues the Eagles are playing on their 2013 tour, I'd pay twice that (or more) for a seat that close. I can't blame the owners of Bethel Woods for the high cost of tickets, they seem to be taking far lower profit than other venues.

As with sports and other entertainment events, the cost of tickets have gotten ridiculous because the "stars" are being paid outragious sums. We can boycott them and live in boredom, or cave in and enjoy the events at the cost.

I was ripped off, but I prefer to think that as outragious costs go, I was given one hell of a show and that my money was well spent.
