It isn't a question of feeding hungry children. The question is should we, as a society, entrust the well being of children to their parents, or can parents no longer be trusted.

Sometimes it's not about being able to trust the parents. Sometimes circumstances put people into a situation where they have next to nothing and are doing their very best with what they have...but it still isn't enough. Of course, there are some people who are just plain lazy and could care less about providing for their kids properly...but how do you weed those people out? And once you do, what do you do? Take away their kids? There is no simple answer to this problem and even if we did discover one, there would still be people trying to scam the system.

I don't believe there is a perfect solution for any given situation. Don't misunderstand, I think the goal of ensuring children aren't hungry is admirable. I just worry that we may be creating a crisis where only a minor problem existed in the first place.

I just can not sympathisize with these people

I don't sympathize with them either. However, I do sympathize with the kids. I am very conservative and think there needs to be a huge change in programs...who can benefit from them, how long they can use the benefits, etc....but even I have no problem with feeding hungry children.
