Finding a good recipe is much harder than finding a sex partner on AFF

Finding a good recipe is much harder than finding a sex partner on here!

I use various sources for ideas. I either use their recipe as is or I adapt it. Many times I'll go to previous recipes and use some ingredients from them that worked well.

Three of my favorite sources for recipe ideas are Epicurious, Food Network, and Cooking.

I look for recipes that I think are tasty and are simple. I may not use them as is, and usually I change them. Adding ingredients that I think will work better, adding ingredients I like, discarding ingredients that I don't think will work. And at times combining several recipes into one.

Today in my email box from Cooking I got a recipe for Black Bean Soup with Cumin and Lime. Sound good? I'm not making it. It's black beans with cumin, lime, and an onion. That's it. How good is that? Give me some carrots at least in my black bean soup. My black bean soup has one Wegman's spicey poultry pattie, or bacon pieces, onion, tomatoes, worcestershire sauce, and of course, cumin and lime. To me, that's tasty. It has substance with more vegetables and the worcestershire sauce and the bacon or spicey poultry pattie makes the soup pop. Food should pop. The Wow factor should be created with every bite. After taking your first bite and your last bite, you should sit bit in your chair and say Wow, This is good. The food should be at least good if not very good, and preferably so good, it should be something you should be talking about. Otherwise what is it? Hopefully at least nourishing. I'd like to get everything I cook to that POP level. But I try so many different things, some work, some don't. And I had such a dessert failure yesterday I threw it in the garbage. My fault, I let if on the stove while I went downstairs to my home office and worked and the bottom burned! It was pineapple rice pudding. I had two ideas, using fresh pineapple or canned pineapple because of the sweeten sauce. I will try again very soon. But then, who am I? Just somebody in the kitchen with dreams of what food should taste like, just trying to raise the bar. Not only in the kitchen but with everything I do. EVERYTHING! Hmmm. or is that Mmmmm!

Thanks for reading. I only get views because of you.
