I have very few of these types of personal signage, but my favorite is at work, hanging on a wall. "Bite Me"

I don't have any. I am the epitome single dude that has walls mostly barren of decorations. If I had a girlfriend she could put whatever she wants up, but I'd rather spend my money on beer than home decor.

What are the little signs that have meaning in your life and speak to you?
What are the ones that reflect your humor and personality?
Where do you keep them?

I don't even have a post-it sticking on the fridge with a message.

Only thing that I have are wooden Letters of our initials that are in the main entrance that I thought would be cute. Problem was I bought both and only one letter was delivered so it became an obsession in finding the other letter to complete the set.

May you continue to find witty funny puns to decorate your home.

I only have one and it says "Live every day as if it was your last" very pertinent I think specially in these times of uncertainty.

I do think that such signs are great at establishing the "company culture" of the household, as evidenced by the effect of the sign in the kitchen.

I think that these sorts of quotes have an effect, even if seen only, in the corner of the eye.

Recently someone sent this one, written on a piece of paper, in immaculate cursive hand writing:

"I will prepare and someday my chance will come." - Abraham Lincoln

I have two trivet signs, both in the Kitchen; " My house was clean yesterday, Sorry you missed it" " The Golfer's Prayer May the Good Lord grant fore golfing days are done, That I might just once score a legitimate hole in one"

I've collected a few of them myself:

*sometimes in my living room: "If you're happy and you know it, slap your friends" * Only because I had one friend that I worked with that would come over at 6:30 a.m. while I was still in my bathrobe to go over her ideas for our department!

In my computer room where I write my blog: "Write your own Life Story".

In the hallway: "There are far better things ahead than any we leave behind." [A reminder for both me and the hubs]

Also In my living room, and I use this online as well: "She always wears black, but she has the most colorful mind!" [because I wear black most days!]

And, perhaps my favorite: "Of course you can dance! signed Vodka"

I also collect mugs and napkins by Ann Taintor. She finds great vintage pics and advertising and puts clever sayings with them. I have a small flask from her that says: "Who is this 'Moderation' that we're supposed to be drinking with?"
And I'm drinking out of this mug as I write this: "Parenting...when messing up your own life just isn't enough"

fun post, Jules!

I really like the Emerson quote!

I used to have more, but there is really only one in my house now. It hangs on the downstairs' bathroom wall, so that all who use the room can contemplate it while doing their business. Not really sure why I put it in there, but that's where it is nonetheless. 'Hope' may be my favorite word, but these other two run a close tie for second:

------------
Dream
------------
Hope
------------
Believe
------------

Each word is framed one above the other within a vertical, wooden, fence-looking kind of thing. Can't figure out how to describe it exactly. But nothing touches; they sort of are just adhered to the wall as separate pieces that make up the whole. Happy Sunday Jules.

In front of my desk I have cork board onto which I pin regularly needed work phone numbers, a few reminders of things I want to do, or which I need to be reminded need doing. "Paint front window sills," "replace guitar bridge," clear out stuff for re-cycling," and "buy new phone" are up there among other things at the moment.

Also pinned up is an envelope marked "Important Quotes." Many of them I would not remember from day to day, but when I hear one I like I note it down and put it in the envelope. Unfortunately I don't always remember to write down who it is attributed to, which annoys me later!

I just opened it to have a look. A sample would be as follows:

"Don't give up - Learn."

"When Jerry Lee plays, even the wrong notes are right."

"What we do for ourselves dies with us; what we do for others remains and is immortal" (Sometimes attributed to Albert Pike, a nineteenth century freemason, and sometimes Albert Paine, the biographer of Mark Twain. I don't know which is correct.)

"Life is made up of years which mean nothing and moments which mean it all."

"The trouble with living in the moment is that it tends to bugger up the next moment." (Reginald Perrin, a 1970's TV fictional character.)

I love these quotes, (and I really like some of yours too,) but I am mistrustful of sayings in general because it is all too easy to make something sound profoundly true just by a clever turn of phrase, and too many people use them to support muddled thinking. The other day I heard someone say jokingly, "The first step towards failure is trying." This is a very revealing joke, because although it is the opposite of inspirational, the statement is clearly true, and carries extra weight which it ought not to have, just by sounding clever. At the same time it also pokes fun at the glib "inspirational" idea that the first step towards success is to try. Both sound clever. Both are sort of true. But although you can't succeed without trying, if someone believes trying will always bring success they have been fooled by a phrase!

I think the only one I remember and use on a daily basis to remind myself is "it isn't so much the mistakes you make that matter - it is what you do NEXT that counts."
