Things I Did Not Know. Did You? Part Three

It's blistering hot here with no end in sight. Some forecasts predict this will be the norm for us for the remainder of the summer.

Despite the heat and desire 'to' just take it easy, I still enjoy and want to keep my brain cells active. So here are a few more interesting facts, I am passing along:

Crocodiles Have No Lips

Crocodiles have no lips, meaning they cannot close their mouths underwater. They are prevented from ingesting water, however, by a secondary palate which blocks the throat – the region inside the mouth is actually still external 'to' the body. I don’t want to get close enough to find out!

Human Thigh Bones Are Stronger Than Concrete

The thigh bones, scientific name femur, are around eight times stronger than concrete. In fact, most bones are around this strong when matched for size. Ever broken any bones?

Rainbows Are Actually Full Circles

All rainbows are complete circles, it’s just that in most cases, more than half of it is cut off by the horizon and so you just see an arc (the ‘bow’). But if you are in an airplane, for example, it is possible to see complete circular rainbows. Maybe that’s why we can never find the ‘pot of gold’!

After Water, Tea Is the Most Consumed Drink

Tea is the most widely consumed beverage in the world next to water, and can be found in almost 80% of all U.S. households. Hot or cold it’s my drink of choice. I don’t drink coffee.

There Are No Spiders in Antarctica

Spiders live in nearly every terrestrial habitat of the world. Spiders haven't found their way onto the snow-covered tops of many of the world's highest mountains, but scientists have recorded one species -- Himalayan jumping spiders (Euophrys omnisuperstes) -- living nearly 20,000 feet above sea level.

I've enjoyed reading your things I didn't know very much especially the one on Canada. It's a nice change I'm looking forward to more.

Thanks. It is always nice to hear when others enjoy things I post that aren’t ‘sex related’.

Yes that was a surprise to me too 😱. Ever broken any bones? I broke my finger at a baseball game during batting practice. Foul ball came up over the screen and smacked me right on top of my knuckle.

Crocodiles Have No Lips which would mean Croc foreplay does not have much kissing

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

I see you're putting apostrophes around the word 'to.' Is that to prevent a bug that removes that word, by chance?

I put in a bug report for that, but haven't heard back from them. Any idea why it does that, or what we can do about it? Have you ever talked about that bug with anyone else? Is there a forum post for it somewhere?

Thanks in advance

By the way, now I know what continent I'm moving to.

WOW.....thank you for the enlightenment! I did not know many of those facts and the mind is a terrible thing to waste....lol

It has been pretty damn hot and muggy in Philly for the past week or so, and today is stormy...but not cooling much. I read somewhere that July will be one for the books in some areas....guess we'll see.

Tea is my go to comfort drink....

You are very good at finding obscure but interesting facts. I don't comment often but I do enjoy seeing these. And I have a lot more from these than I knew before.

Rainbows always seem so magical. To be able to have seen several 'complete' ones must have been fun. Drinking lots of water and tea!

Yes there are several words that routinely get dropped from blogs. Several people have posted it about it too. Putting an apostrophe is one way to deal with it. Others will put a period, sometimes between the letters. Yes bug reports have been opened for this problem.
And I am agree...if it wasn't so damn cold, I would consider changing continents too. Thanks for stopping by.

If we aren't learning, we aren't advancing. With the humidex, it's been 40 - 42C
which for our American friends is 104F - 107.6F. Thanks for stopping by.

Yes a mind certainly is a terrible thing to waste. We have been told to expect this never-ending heat to last the rest of the summer. Without AC, it's a challenge to cope. I just made a fresh batch of home-made ice tea...no sugar, just lemon juice added. Thanks for stopping by.

Thank you. I do enjoy finding obscure and quirky facts. If I find them interesting, I think others may too. While others may complain they aren't 'site specific', I don't care, I post what I want. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

LOL - for some perhaps, but I prefer skill and technique over size.

When the Antarctic melts away from global warming, spiders might move in there among other things.

Please don't let me be misunderstood.

Yikes! Most likely by time that happens, I won't be around to see and hear about it.
