Push the envelope!!

A blog got me to remembering and thinking. My father used to say, he wished he would have bought some property in a region around Madras, Oregon. He had the money. In today's terms, he would have purchased the property for less than $2,000 and 20 years later, it would have been worth $75 million. Why didn't he? He had a gut feeling he could make a fortune, but all of his friends told him he would be pouring his money down the toilet. His gut was right. His friends were dead wrong.

In this life, there are windows of opportunity. Those windows open and those windows shut. By the time my father realized he had made the wrong decision, the property had already soared in value and he had lost out.

The only people who have no risk in this life are dead. Life is full of twists and turns and those windows of opportunity.

I grew up in a poor family. I did not want to be poor again. But life with its twists and turns has taken me through financial disaster. I have been at the top and then the bottom when a business failed and then I climbed back up. I did not want to live like my parents. I will take the risk and I will pursue the windows of opportunity. I have had my spectacular failures along with the positive successes. I can appreciate it all.

Now I am beginning to sound to myself like I am bragging. I really am not. I hope I enocurage people to push their envelope. Take the risk. Rise to the challenge. When knocked down, get up and keep going. When facing the difficult remember if it was easy everyone would do it.
