The Mouse does it again

I have a confession to make ...odds are pretty good that if it was made by Disney, then I'm probably going to love it. Same goes with Pixar ...the list of animated movies that I LOVE is a whole lot longer than the ones I hate. Weird that a dude who loves Zombie, vampire, slasher, 50's sci-fi and bad b-movies would love what I guess I would call " stuff" but I guess since I never did the " thing" I have to like them twice as much or something.

Anyway, last night I went and saw "Into the Woods" with a friend and I absolutely loved it. I really didn't know it was going to be a musical, and I thought it was going to be a lot more driven by special effects ...so I had two surprises I guess. I dunno if it'll really go down as one of the "bigger" Disney movies or not, but it's probably my favorite in quite a few years (which says a little because I'm not a huge fan of musicals); I really did like a lot of the central messages ...especially towards the end when they were trying to figure out whose fault it was and assigning blame. It had a few pretty profound messages hidden in all the goofiness! ...and there was goofiness galore (probably why I liked it so much); Chris Pine was hysterical, although I'm pretty sure the girl who played "Little Red Riding Hood" stole the show for the most part.

After the Disney movie I came home and plugged in the 1981 version of "The Evil Dead" (gotta offset the musical, yanno?!). I think I might have made it an hour before I started dozing ...I'll probably pick up where I left off in bed tonight and then start the new version again next. I had almost forgotten that Bruce Campbell was ever that young, but the original really was a pretty decent horror flick (although "Army of Darkness" still remains one of my favorite horror-comedy movies ever).

Off to hit the shower ...yet more plans today, so better get busy!

cheerzal!

I've seen interviews and previews for that movie everywhere, I've been wondering whether I should take a chance and go see it.

I really enjoyed it ...there were a few aspects about the lack of special effects that struck me as a little bit "familiar" and when I looked it up on IMDb I saw the reason why: it was based off a Broadway play! A big "OoooH!" moment (and another "wow" because that is really not my cup of tea either).
