I personally use points to see profiles and since I'm not one of the overly popular folks I cant say about being on the receiving end. As to the cake, chocolate on chocolate is my favorite of mine! I just looks almost too perfect to cut though. Take it easy, guns are cold.

I am surprised to have a rotating gallery of "top fans". only one of them I have ever had any conversation with. As I've said 100s of times what his site sells is access to people who might be/are interested in having sex with you. Not friendship, sex. The blogs and other social networking aspects tend to retain female membership but the perception being able to hook up with a woman is what retains most men.* Since men are the primary ones who pay to be on the site, it's very important to create as many opportunities as possible for them to feel as though they have that access. Flirts and hotlists aren't enough; you can hotlist until cows come home and the woman of your dreams can still ignore you. Worse yet, she can block your ass and you can't see or interact with her at all  (I always laugh at how many men say things like, "the system isn't delivering my messages" "the site isn't showing my flirts". No, she's just ignoring you.) Anyway, Top Fans addresses the issue of the perception of access. This way a man can get himself front and center in front of a woman he wants to impress and connect with. It allows him to demonstrate the extent of his desire to connect with her (and vice versa at times as well). The upside: * A man can make himself stand out in the crowd. A fan is a lot more obvious than Joe Random Dude sending a flirt. * Women who need an ego boost can get a quick fix, especially if there are multiple men bidding to be their Top Fan. * Some people enjoy the competition and get a kick from it and find it fun. The downside: *Unlike your friends list or other info, you can't hide this. If you are the sort of person who likes to keep things discreet, ain't gonna happen. *You can't control who decides to plop themselves on your profile; your Cupid settings don't matter; to that extent the fan drives what others see. Don't like married men? black/white/whatever men? Men who are 1000 miles away? Squirting cock shots? Doesn't really matter they are all on your profile for everyone to see *Another issue is expectations. I've seen several of blog posts like this one... "Please could you explain me why they launch "BEING FAN" of people we may like the most... I see finally that we are wasting our points without getting any reward .[sic]." I *had* to ask this dude what he meant by "reward" and this was his response to me... "what do you purpose if you are asked to give any reward to the man who likes u much (I am sure there is) [sic]" Yeah, so there is the issue of expectations (and as you can see, this fellow wasn't the most highly educated tree in the forest). They didn't make any kind of big announcement about this at first. I went to my profile one day and found the mug of some guy I had turned down *several* times. I even responded twice telling him it was never going to happen. And a couple of disembodied penises. Just. No. It took me about 10 seconds to being looking for the opt out button and when I found it, I blasted this nonsense off of my profile ASAP. But to each his or her own. *Yes, yes, before any of you chime in with how different *you* are, Understand that I know these are generalities but I can assure you that they are much more true than not. I haven't really looked into the fan thing, but as mentioned it looks like it is a way for the site to get standard members to pay for points to get the attention of women they can't otherwise contact. I also see on some profiles where there are "Top Fans" that are not friends, so that tells me that these guys are not even really connecting with the women, so I'd agree it is a bit time waster. Now those cakes, on the other hand, I'm seriously considering a trip to WI for a taste of one ( and you too!)

The whole "Top Fan" business is so Mid-school. Saw a post by guy where he thought it quite rude that a woman would not reply to his emails because he spent a lot of money to be her Top Fan. Of course he also only is allowing Friends to post comments. I was going to say that she owes him nothing, this is not Congress. I also doubt he would take well to being told she was not interested. If you see me in the real world, come say "Hi Justskin." I always behave. Preferably not well.

You can purchase points so I think it's another way to generate more income for the site. There may be something more attached to the concept but I've never bothered to look into it further.
