A girl woke me up

I went snow boarding this past weekend with some friends. Two days at Jay Peak and one day at Stowe Mountain. Jay was more icy than I would have liked, I busted my left knee the second day and then I was pretty much done (halfway through the day).

I took a nap in the car while my pals rode, and then I limped up to the bunny hill to practice my switch footing for a couple runs.

Stowe was nice though! It was so warm Sunday I did the first run from the top in a T shirt. I also bit it twice on that run, once with a good backslide and the other was a caught edge on a fluffy snow pile that flipped me totally upside down. Landed good though! Nothing was as bad as my knee whack the second day, but I did bump it a couple times and recall the ache to my attention.

SO now the story I meant to type here:

First two nights all four of us shared a room because it had enough beds. The third night we went down to Stowe from Jay, and we had two separate rooms. My good friend, lets call him Jack, and I shared a room, while the other two got the other room.

So the night went well, we ate, showered, hit the sack. My buddy Jack was in the Marines for a little, so he is wired to wake up early. He's always doing something, fiddling with gear, getting ready, whatever.

It's Sunday morning, and I hear shuffling about. Shuffle shuffle shuffle, the sound of nylon against nylon or some other kind of winter clothing brushing against itself sound. I don't sleep as deep when I'm on a trip with people as opposed to my own bed, so the shuffling woke me up.

There was a lot of shuffling. I was on my side facing the wall, and I thought, "OK, two more minutes, then I'm going to turn over and see WTF Jack is doing for all this time."

I turn over, and open my eyes. I see a dark figure, puffy jacket, and it doesn't look like Jack. The figure is standing next to his bed. I look at his bed. It looks like there's someone in it- then I trace up and see his face on the pillow.

Huh.

So... Jack is there... I'm here... Who the fuck is that?

I stare for a minute letting my eyes adjust, and then I say," What's up?".

Jack is up now, but still lying there. He asks the figure if it's one of our friends. Any of our friends. It's not. It is a random girl from the inn we were at. She had gotten lost and wandered into the wrong room?

I don't even recall the conversation at this point. All I remember was I of course had to crack a joke, 'He's got a fiancee, you should be sitting on my bed."

She seemed disoriented, she said she had been drinking, and then asked if SHE COULD JUST STAY HERE?!

Dear Penthouse- I am not that creepy.

I said no, I'd walk her back to her room. I got up, put my glasses on, and took her down the hall in my underwear. I told her my name, and we had a brief introduction. She was really cute when I could see her in the hall.

I got her back to her room, asked her if that's where she was staying- she confirmed, and her friends were asleep already. I asked if she'd be OK, she said yes, so I said goodnight and left.

Back at the room, Jack is up and he's like 'Yo it's six AM'. I'm just like "I have to take a shit now," and he's like, "me too!". So we crack up for a minute, then take our turns in the bathroom.

YEA THIS STORY ISN'T SEXY LIKE YOU THOUGHT!!!?

I think it's a good thing when the food is like 'wake up, I'm coming out' so you don't have to time your crap with your days activities.

Anyway, that chick left her phone on our night stand- I brought it to her room the next day and stuck it on their table. Their door was open and they were all asleep.

I was thinking I should have punched my number in her phone or something, or texted making light of the event but... I though she was on some drug and really out of it, so I didn't do anything.

Of course I got the whole committee of 'she wanted it dude, you should have fucked her. Maybe you ruined her night by NOT giving it to her,' on the ride to the mountain, but it was all good fun. None of us are that sketchy.

I thought it was a good story!

What do you think? What would you have done if you woke up with a complete stranger standing next to your bed?

Freaky!

Well, you were a "good guy" and didn't fuck her which I commend you on.
I feel bad for anyone who is so drunk or high that they end up so out of it that they put themselves in those situations AND you may have dodged a bullet there. Having any kind of a relationship or friendship with people who consistently do these types of things is wearing, to say the least (LOL run-on sentence much?).
Good post and ended somewhere I didn't expect!

You did it right, but would of gotten a number just to see if she was OK the next day. Could of asked her out for coffee.

Thanks guys!

Skier4u4, We were heading home last night anyway so I wouldn't have been able to meet her. She was dressed like a VT gal, or someone from those parts anyway. 6 or 7 hours to get back here to NNJ.

I actually think I saw her the next day on the line to the gondola at Stowe, but she was way ahead of me and I didn't see her after that.

Anyone ever see the movie Mr. Nobody?

I feel like that sometimes. I didn't make this decision!!! How has it irreparably altered the course of my life as we know it? What children will I not have now, or what opportunities will open before me?

It's fun, but I don't dwell on those thoughts. That will drive you crazy.

It reminds me of this verse from Iron Maiden - The Evil That Men Do :

Circle of fire my baptism of joy at an end it seems
The seventh lamb slain, the book of life opens before me.
And I will pray for you.
...Some day I may return.
Don't you cry for me
Beyond is where I learn.

----------------

Well, I haven't slain seven lambs yet, so I guess my book of life is still closed

Does it count if I just eat the lambs?
